Description

New York State COVID-19 regulations require us to limit registration to 200 runners total in the two races, so please sign up early!

A challenging but fair course on the northern portion of the scenic Long Island Greenbelt Trail, starting and finishing at the GLIRC Clubhouse in Plainview with plentiful, well stocked aid stations.

The charitable beneficiaries  of this event are, as in the past, HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS whose mission is to enhance the quality of life of post 9/11 service members, and the GREENBELT TRAIL CONFERENCE

Transportation

Train pick up is available. We'll post the train times as the event draws near.

Awards

Custom medals to all finishers of both events in both the live and virtual races. Top M & F OA  in both the 50K and 25K live events will receive Salomon shoes courtesy of Salomon and Runner’s Edge.

Awards in both races to:

  • 1st male and female OA
  • 1st M & F in the 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+ age groups. 

Johnny Kenul Memorial Award:

  • 1st finisher in the 50K who is age 60 or over.

THERE WILL BE NO DAY-OF-RACE- REGISTRATION. ALL REGISTRATION WILL BE DONE IN ADVANCE.

Early Registration - Thursday April 1 @ 12:00 PM - Saturday May 1 @ 11:59 PM EST   

  • 50K - $55 ($50 for GLIRC members)
  • 25K - $50 ($45 for GLIRC members) 

Late Registration -  Saturday May 2 @ 12:00 AM - Friday May 7 @ 9:00 AM EST

* There are no awards for the virtual events. Registration will close at 11:59 pm on Saturday, May 15th at 11:59 PM EST. Results can be posted from 12:00 AM Saturday May 8th through 11:59 pm on Saturday, May 15th. 

Bib Pickup

We STRONGLY encourage you to pick up your bib and special commemorative shirt ahead of time if you are at all able to do so! 

Bib pickup will be available:

Friday, May 7 from 2PM - 5PM at Runner's Edge - 242 Main St. Farmingdale, NY 11735

Saturday, May 8 from 6:30 AM - 7:15AM for the 50K, 6:30 AM to 8:15 AM for the 25K at race check-in at GLIRC Clubhouse, 101 Dupont Street, Suite 24, Plainview

  • You can pick up a bib for someone else. If possible please bring their bib number to facilitate pickup.
Check-in

Check in will take place from 6:30 AM to 7:15 AM for the 50K, and from 6:30 AM through 8:15 AM for the 25K at the GLIRC Clubhouse located at 101 Dupont St. #24, Plainview, NY 11803.

If you have not picked up your bib ahead of time (it is STRONGLY encouraged that you do so, however, to make race day go more smoothly!), you may do so at check-in at the times mentioned above.

All participants will be required to bring with them the completed COVID Health Screening form. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE FORM. 

** PLEASE print and fill out your COVID health form ahead of time and bring it with you so that we keep the area clear of clusters and safe for everyone.

IMPORTANT DAY OF RACE INFORMATION

***PLEASE NOTE: THE RACE COURSE CLOSES AT 4 PM FOR BOTH EVENTS***

Parking volunteers will be there to assist you at the GLIRC Clubhouse or nearby on Dupont St.

You must have a mask with you, and masks must be worn at all times when not running. You can remove your mask once you start but must put it back on once you finish. 

Aid stations for this event will be available with pre-packaged snacks and hydration.

For the 50K Participants: There will be a drop bag area at the trailhead. You may put any items you wish to access mid-race and your bags will be made available to you. 

25K Participants: It is suggested that you take everything you need with you, and put all other items safely locked away in your vehicle.

You must have your bib pinned to the front of your clothing and visible at all times so that we know you are part of the race and that you are easily identifiable in photos. 

There WILL be porta-potties available for your use at the Clubhouse.

Participant instructions will be sent prior to race day with more information regarding race day procedures.

Correct Bib# Placement on Body
Please keep your bib # clearly visible on your front torso!

  • For the best results with photo tagging and searching, the photographers need to clearly see your bib# when taking photos. This will greatly improve your name & bib# photo search results.
  • We have GLIRC Bib Belts in our Club Store that will help keep your bib secured to your person and visible at all times! Purchase one HERE
SWITCH FROM LIVE RACE TO VIRTUAL

If you are registered for the live race but would like to transfer to the virtual race, this option is available through 11:59pm on Friday, May 7th. If you cannot run the live event for ANY reason, switch to the virtual event so that your race giveaway will be automatically mailed to you once the virtual race period has ended on May 15th..

Virtual Race Participant Instructions

WHEN/WHERE

You may run your race anywhere you choose at your own convenience and post your results anytime between May 8 nd May 15, 2021. Complete your run, and upload your results and photos on the race website HERE.  (You can also go to your RunSignUp profile, go to your Upcoming races, and click on Submit Virtual Results. ) **Don't forget to print out your finisher's certificate after you submit your time by going back to the results! **
