Description

The Duathlon combines a 2 mile run; 17 mile bike; and 2 mile run to the finish along the scenic route of the Mohawk Towpath Byway, one of America’s Byways®.  Start, bike exchange, finish and awards will all be at Riverview Orchards, 660 Riverview Road, Rexford.

New this year is a Scholastic and Grandmaster Heat. Participants age 16 and under and age 70 or older may elect to do a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike (one loop), and a 2 mile run to the finish. There will be first, second and third place for female and male in these respective classes. Entry fees for these classes are discounted.

Moisture wicking knit hat to the first 100 registered.  All participants will receive a Giffy’s BarBQ chicken dinner post race feed.

*This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event, prices above do not include one day membership, if applicable.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Friends of the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that seeks to increase awareness, enjoyment and linkage of the wide variety of scenic, recreational and historic resources along the Mohawk River and Erie Canal corridor from Waterford to Schenectady.  The Friends is a membership organization serving as a bridge to our communities.

Preview the Courses

Feel free to tour the duathlon course before the race! The courses are freshly marked with pavement markings.  The running leg starts at Riverview Orchard’s business sign.  Follow the red pavement marking at the Droms Road intersection and the turn-around point on Droms Road.  The bike course goes east on Riverview Road.  Follow the white pavement marking.

Volunteers will be stationed at the intersections on race day, but please note that it is the athlete’s responsibility to know the course.

The Running Legs

Athletes will begin with a 2 mile run on a flat, fast course starting at Riverview Orchards and heading west to a turnaround on Droms Road that takes them back to the start. The same course will be repeated after the bike.
