Description
As we all work to practice proper social distancing and battle the COVID-19 crisis together, many people are finding themselves either struggling to maintain fitness goals, looking for ways to help, or both. Many families in Rochester and the surrounding communities rely on our public school systems to provide meals for their children. These communities and families need our help. The Going the Social Distance race is a virtual 5k to support Foodlink of Rochester which provides food to the inner city schools.
How it works: Simply walk or run a 5k (minimum) any day, anywhere, WHILE PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCING in a location of your choosing and you will have completed the race. It can be on a treadmill, elliptical, on your favorite road, or a trail. The point is to be active to improve our own mental and physical health while helping those in need.
The top male and female finisher will be able to make a donation in their name to a COVID-19 impacted charity of their choosing. All remaining proceeds will be donated to Foodlink of Rochester. You can submit your results through the link below however reporting is completely optional. In order for your results to be considered for the donation and placing, please be sure to include the link to your fitness app whether (Nike Run Club, MapMyRun, Strava, etc).
