Description
The Medved Winter Running Group is back! This training group is designed to create a broad, winter hearty, enthusiastic, running community. We will provide you with opportunities to learn and train to your highest ability utilizing weekly practices, group runs, and fun events. Our mission is to help you stay active during the winter months!
For those of you who are looking to join us for the first time, you can expect fun, camaraderie, a challenge, and probably a few post-run pancakes along the way. If you want a push to get out and stay active through the winter months, this is your calling– Hibernation is now a thing of winters past!
We will meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm for workouts that will target strength, speed, and endurance on a rotating basis. Please be prepared for road, track, trail or snow-covered surfaces as we welcome all that Mother Nature wants to throw our way.
Saturday mornings we will meet at 8:00 am. We will take to the trails of our local parks for group runs. Again, please be prepared for snowy, icy or muddy trails - potentially all at once! We strongly suggest that you bring your trail shoes and traction devices to be ready for anything.
We strongly encourage participants to use running snowshoes when the conditions are appropriate but snowshoes are not required. Beginner snowshoeing instruction will be given to those that need a little help getting started.
We will KICKOFF our winter season of fun at the Rochester Ugly Sweater 5k on Saturday, December 4th.
Members of the Medved Endurance Project receive discount on the Winter Training Group and Ugly Sweater 5K registration fees.
