Hike to End Homelessness 2026

WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES

Join Volunteers of America for a family-friendly community walk that unites individuals, businesses, and organizations in support of safe housing and hope for those experiencing homelessness. Participants will complete a one-mile walk, symbolizing the journey from homelessness to stability while learning about the impact of VOA in restoring dignity and a sense of belonging throughout our community.

Hike to End Homelessness participants who register by August 13 will receive a free t-shirt! T-shirt size and availability cannot be guaranteed for registrations submitted after August 13.

We encourage families to register together and bring the whole crew! Children's registration is free, though please note that children's registrations do not include a t-shirt.

Online registration closes September 10 for hike.

Can't make it in person? Join us virtually! Virtual participants are welcome to complete the walk on their own time and still make an impact in their community.

FAQ

The hike is more of a short walk of about a one mile loop. Participants are able to walk the route more than once if they wish.

The event is open to everyone at all fitness levels. Children 12 and under are free to participant, but must register and be accompanied by a registered adult.

The route is accessible on side walks with some parts on the road.

Check in at the Registration tent near the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center and visitor parking lot A. Participants can start checking in as early as 9:15 a.m. prior to the start of the race at 10 a.m.

Free parking is available on St. John Fisher University campus in parking lots A and C near the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center and participant check in.

Yes, there are indoor restrooms available in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center at the start/finish line.

Funraising is not required to participate in the hike, however participants are encouraged to become a fundraiser to support VOA's mission and programs. Participants who raise $100 will receive a VOA branded thank you gift.

The Hike to End Homelessness will take place rain or shine, however should severe weather require cancellation of the event, participants will receive notification no less than two hours before the scheduled start time.
