Description

Summer Track June - September

Description

Special Tempo Workout on Tuesday July 16th.

We are still at Tallman Mountain SP this week, but taking a break from the track and running a Tempo workout on the half-mile park road that circles the Sawmill Picnic Area on the plateau overlooking the Hudson.

From Route 9W, just south of Sparkill, turn East onto Rockland Road. The entrance to the Tallman Mountain State Park is 500 feet, on the right. Park in the first lot to the right, just past the entrance.

  • Turn right out of the parking lot onto the park road
After 0.1 miles, bear left at the fork in the road (do not go towards the swimming pool)
At 0.25 miles, take the first left at the roundabout
Go uphill about 0.2 miles to meet the park loop road around the plateau
The rendezvous point is on your left.
GPS co-ordinates of the rendezvous point (you can just type them into Apple or Google Maps) 41.0350, -73.9158

You can view the route on Strava or download a GPX route to your Garmin.

We'll try to have someone on a bike to escort you from the parking lot, but no guarantees. You can also drive to the rendezvous point.   If you get lost, call Bill at (845) 558-2857.

Regular Program

Most of our workouts will be on the cinder track at Tallman Mountain State Park, starting and ending with a 3-mile time trial.  We'll also include a hill workout and some other variations to spice things up.

These summer track workouts are suitable for all fitness levels, so don't feel intimidated.  Our experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff, Ray Kondracki and Jamie Kempton will tailor the workouts to suit all paces.  Getting faster is just as important to a beginner as it is to a highly competitive runner. Additional benefits include aerobic and muscular fitness, race pacing and confidence within your training level. Our coaches can answer your individual training questions before, during and after workouts.

We suggest that you arrive early to allow time to stretch and warm up before the speed part of the workout starts at 7:00pm!  The Club will provide water and Gatorade.

We often conduct workouts in light rain. Workouts may be cancelled however, when severe weather conditions exist. Last minute changes and cancellations will be communicated by e-mail to all registered participants and also posted to our social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Fees

The program is free for all current Rockland Road Runner Club Members. Guests may try out the program for one session (you'll just have to sign a waiver), but if you attend regularly, we do require that you join the club.  Membership options are listed on our website.  If you would like to make a donation towards the end-of-season track party, you can do so at the donation page, or contribute cash at one of the workouts.
