John Clements Scholarship Halloween 5k

John Clements was a dedicated entrepreneur, family man and extremely involved member in the Sylvan Beach community. He always had multiple businesses which allowed him to provide for his family and certainly was never afraid of risks. Following in his footsteps his son and grand daughter both opened businesses in the Sylvan Beach area. His 5 eldest grandchildren have gone/are going through the Oneida City School district and most were honored enough to receive scholarships that helped put them through college. Since this helped them immensely they are repaying the favor.

The goal is to give out a $1000 scholarship to a deserving Oneida High School student that shows an outstanding amount of entrepreneurial spirit and/or business understanding and passion in their desired field.

We have chosen to do this race through the town of Sylvan Beach in remembrance of John Clements and because his grand daughter owns Flex Appeal Fitness Studio in town. This race will combine the entrepreneurial spirit and passion to help others that John embodied throughout his life.

This is a fun run. Runners, walkers, families, strollers and dogs are welcome! There will be bibs given to each race participant but no official timer. There will be prizes for the fastest male and female runners of the day and best costumes.
