Description
The Run to Remember 5k--brought to the Troy community by RPI AFROTC Detachment 550--is a family friendly, community wide event aimed at supporting local veterans, as well as current college students. All are welcome to enjoy this event, with RPI celebrating its 200th year, we hope the bicentennial will bring the community together for this outstanding event. You will find that there is a student discount of $15 once you begin registration. All proceeds donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation a non-profit that supports our fallen veterans and their families. Special Operations Warrior Foundation is a top-rated charitable organization with an enduring promise to the children of fallen Special Operations Personnel and the children of all service members awarded the Medal of Honor. Additionally, we will be doing the race in memory of GUNDAM22, "On November 29th, 2023, eight brave souls in Air Force Special Operations Command lost their lives in an aircraft mishap during a routine training mission off the shore of Yakushima Island, Japan" (pacaf.af.mil). With help from the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, we will be honoring these eight airmen by raising money for their families. All proceeds will be donated to the brave men and women who have put their service first and gave their all. Please join us on September 28th, to honor their legacy and support the SOWF. We will be running for them;
Major Jeffrey T. Hoernemann
Major Eric V. Spendlove
Major Luke A. Unrath
Major Terrell K. Brayman
Technical Sergeant Zachary K. Lavoy
Staff Sergeant Jake M. Turnage
Staff Sergeant Jacob "Jake" Galliher
Senior Airman Brian K. Johnson
We are excited to be supporting this foundation and hope to see everyone there!
This year we will be also offering a virtual version of the race. If you are choosing to participate virtually, be sure to choose the virtual racer add-on to your registration to notify our team. Wishing everyone the best of luck!
