Continue the tradition! Run OR Walk a 5k or 2m VirtuReal or virtually! Registration is just $10 and 100% of all the proceeds will benefit local nonprofit food pantries. There will now be one time slots on three different days for all participants to join!
UPDATED Race Information
Each Thanksgiving Day the Utica Roadrunners host their annual Run 2 End Hunger. This event has been running for 36 consecutive years on Thanksgiving morning! 100% of the proceeds and food will benefit local nonprofit food pantries. The run follows the 5K Development Run course.
This year's 36th Annual Run 2 End Hunger will be different than all others. Due to the expected large participation numbers, we will be unable to gather inside the gymnasium before or after the event, like we have in all previous years. Unfortunately, there will no door prizes at this year's events. Furthermore, the City of Utica has enforced a 50 person max on running events. With that said, the Utica Roadrunners will be offering 3 time slots for participation this year. ALL RUNNERS must register online, whether VirtuReal or virtually. There is not a hard start time for these events. Runners can participate at ANYTIME during the registered time slot. This structure offers all the participants flexibility based on their schedules. There will be no in-person registration during any times. The dates and times are as follows:
Run for the Pie 5k - Wednesday afternoon (11/25) - 1pm-3:30pm (everyone must be finished by 4:00pm) (max registration 50)
Run 2 End Hunger 5k - Thursday morning (like previous years) (11/26) - 8am-10:30am (everyone must be finished by 11pm ) (max registration 50)
Run off the Pie 5k - Friday morning (11/27) - 8am-10:30am (everyone must be finished by 11pm ) (max registration 50)
During each time slot above, we will be holding a food donation drive-thru in the upper lot of the Parkway Center, located at 220 Memorial Parkway, Utica. Food donations can be dropped off at anytime during the time slots above. We'd like to give a special thanks for the support of the Greater Utica Sunrise Rotary Club, for their time collecting food on Thanksgiving morning. All donors and/or event participants throughout the week will be asked to donate at least three nonperishable items.
After donating your items, runners and walkers will have opportunity to complete the 5K Run or 2 Mile Walk at their own leisure based on their registered time slot. The city streets will not be blocked off. All runners will be asked to stay on the sidewalks along the Parkway in accordance with the City of Utica. Again, after the run, there will be no gathering inside the gymnasium. All participants could head right home and begin to enjoy their day with family and friends.
The registration for this family-friendly run / walk will take place online ONLY at RunSignup. The cost is $10 per person, plus three nonperishable items per person. For those bringing children under the age of 18, a waiver form will need to be filled out the prior to running. Waiver forms will be available for signature at the start of the run on the Memorial Parkway.
All food donations will be taken directly the Utica Rescue Mission. All monies collected will be donated to a great local organization, Utica Center for Development. Please join us this year as we walk and run to benefit our great community.
