Welcome to the West Point Half-Marathon - Fallen Comrades Run website! This year's Half Marathon and 1-mile Kids run will race will be held in person on Sunday, March 9th, 2025. This race is dedicated to those members of the Long Gray Line who have gone to war and paid the ultimate sacrifice. We honor and celebrate their memory as we build camaraderie through friendly competition.

Cadets must register with westpoint.edu email accounts. ROTC cadets must register with their .mil email accounts.

The half marathon run/ruck will offer:

Competitive Categories for Awards:

Individual Half Marathon - Top 3 Male/Female: Overall

Top 3 Male/Female: age group 19 and under, 20-34, 35-49, 50-64, 65+

Top 3 Male/Female: Cadets

Half Marathon Ruck Top 3 Male/Female (carry at least 35 lbs.)  

PACKET PICKUP:

Packet Pickup will occur on 8 March 2025 from 10 AM until 3 PM. Packet pickup will be adjacent to the Visitor Center to allow participants to pick up race packets and visitor passes concurrently.

Cadet packet pickup will occur in the Mess Hall at the Poop Deck from 1205-1235 on Thursday (6 MAR) and Friday (7 MAR).

Race-day packet pickup is also available from 7 AM - 7:30 AM on March 9th. However, it is strongly discouraged for participants without a DOD ID Card, as West Point Security has very limited ability to process visitor passes prior to 9 AM. 

* Per USMA Security Office, all participants and race spectators that are not DOD ID Cardholders must obtain a visitor pass. The West Point Visitor Control Center is located at: 2107 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996 and operating hours are 6 AM to 10 PM daily.

UPDATED 2024 HALF MARATHON COURSE!!

The 2024 Half Marathon course has been updated due to road closures and construction as a result of the storm last summer.

The course consists of two 6.55-mile loops. The race begins at Michie Stadium and heads south toward Buffalo Soldier Field. Runners will then run down Thayer Road overlooking the Hudson River and around the Plain near Trophy Point before running across Diagonal Walk in front of the Cadet Barracks and Eisenhower, Washington, and MacArthur Statues. The route then runs north down hill to the Hudson River to North Dock and along the Hudson to the Rugby Complex. Runners will then turn and head back up to Michie Stadium up Tower and Ruger Roads to Washington Road to Mills Road. Runners will run around Lusk Reservoir and start another loop. After the second loop, runners will finish the race at the 50-yard line of Michie Stadium.

Race Week Information

PACKET PICKUP

Participants will receive their race bib and shirt (for half marathon) at packet pickup. Please have your race registration email confirmation and photo identification available at packet pickup.

Early Packet pickup for Cadets will occur in the Mess Hall at the Poop Deck on Friday, March 15, from 12:05 p.m. to 12:35 p.m.

Packet pickup for general entry will occur on Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the West Point Visitor Center parking lot located at 2107 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996 (look for the tent in front of the Visitor Center).

Race-day packet pickup will occur on Sunday, March 17, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. inside Michie Stadium located on West Point at 700 Mills Road, West Point, NY 10996. Please arrive early enough to park in the designated parking lots and walk to the stadium for packet pickup. There is no parking outside of the stadium.

ENTRY ON TO WEST POINT

All participators and race spectators that are not DOD ID Cardholders must obtain a visitor pass to gain entry to West Point. The West Point Visitor Control Center is located at: 2107 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996 and operating hours are 6 AM to 10 PM daily.  

RACE DAY PARKING

Parking is available on race day at Parking Lot A just West of Michie Stadium at the intersection of Stony Lonesome Road and Howze Place (Google map link) or at the West Point Association of Graduates (AOG) building at Herbert Hall, 638 Mills Road, West Point, NY 10996 (Google map link). Both parking lots are a short walk to the race start and packet pickup location inside Michie Stadium on Mills Road, West Point, NY 10996.

 

 

BAGGAGE DROP

Baggage drop will be available at Michie Stadium. Runners must use a clear bag and clearly label their bag with their race bib number. Markers will be available on race day to mark bags. Bags are subject to search prior to drop off. Bags may be picked up at Michie Stadium immediately following completion of the race.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

While running the race, roads will be open to traffic, so situational awareness is key to ensure that no runners get in vehicle accidents. While there will be road guards, to ensure the safety of racers, the use of headphones or earbuds while running is not permitted on military installations.

PROHIBITTED ITEMS:

  • Weapons and contraband of any kind (regardless of permitting). This will include firearms, knives, pepper spray, etc.
  • Fireworks (includes flammable liquids, fuels or explosives)
  • Suitcases or bulky items (no large bags)
  • Alcohol
  • Illegal drugs or illicit substances of any kind
  • Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems / Drones

RACE START

The opening remarks, course orientation, safety briefing, and national anthem will begin at 7:45 a.m. at the race start location on Mills Road in between Michie Stadium and Lusk Reservoir.

All participants running/walking the Half Marathon will start at 8:00 a.m. There are no running waves but runners should line up according to their expected running pace (faster runners to the front near the start line).

All participants conducting the Half Marathon Ruck March will start at 8:05 a.m.

The kids 1-mile race will begin immediately following the start of the ruck march. All kids participating will walk as a group to the start line on the East side of Lusk Reservoir. Kids complete one and a half loops around Lusk Reservoir and finish inside Michie Stadium. Parents/guardians are welcome to run alongside their kids. Kids should remain on the sidewalk along Stony Lonesome Road which will be open to vehicle traffic.

RUN TIMING AND RESULTS

Second Wind Race Timing will provide the official timing of all races. A results link will be sent to all participants following the race. The timing device will be attached to the back of your race bib. Please be sure your bib is visible on the front outside layer of clothing during the race to include when passing over timing mats at the start, finish, and other points on the course.

AWARDS

All finishers will receive a finisher medal upon completion. The competitive category awards ceremony will occur at approximately 11:00 a.m. inside Michie Stadium.
