Sunday Race Day

Transportation Options and Getting There
The starting line is located at: Hilton San Diego Bayfront, 1 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101

Traveling Southbound: take I-5 South, exit Front St., follow to Market Street turn left on Market St., follow to 5th Ave. Harbor Dr. is a few blocks south of Market St. Or for the Hilton and Convention Center parking garages continue to Harbor Dr. below.

Traveling Northbound: take 1-5 North, exit J St., turn left on J St. follow to 5th Ave. Harbor Dr. is a few blocks south of J St. Or for the Hilton and Convention Center parking garages, continue to Harbor Dr.

Coronado Residents: Get to the start line with our convenient shuttle buses. Available 6:30 am-7:15 am traveling from Glorietta Blvd. near the finish line at Tidelands Park. 

 
Parking Suggestions

Plan ahead and arrive early! Prior to 7 am premier parking is available in the Hilton San Diego Bayfront parking garage for a fee.  After 7 am, parking is available for a fee in the Convention Center parking garage through the 5th Ave and harbor Drive entrance, as well as surrounding lots.  Parking meters downtown San Diego are free on Sundays.  Be sure to pay attention to posted signs.

 
Take The Trolley! 

Avoid the crowds and parking downtown, take the trolley or bus! Purchase an event day MTS Trolley/Bus Pass for $5.50 from us during registration.  Participants that pre-purchased an MTS one day event Trolley/Bus Pass, will have an MTS stamp marked on their race bib number.  This will identify participants as a pre-paid rider, valid at any MTS Trolley or Bus station on race day on Sunday, May 19, 2024.  To get your combo day pass, you MUST select this option during registration.  (Day pass does not include MTS COASTER).

Buses

After the event All registered participants will have access to return shuttle buses that will run after the race to the start line downtown, beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 11 am. Buses are strollers and wheelchair accessible.  Participants must present their race bib number to be identified as a FREE rider, no exceptions.

Service dogs are the only animals permitted on the buses, and on the race course.

 
Free Return Transportation provided by Flagship Cruises & Events!

Whether it’s back to the 5th Avenue Start Line or to the Broadway Pier (near The Midway Museum) - All race participants will enjoy FREE transportation back to downtown SD. After the race, report to the Coronado Ferry Landing Marketplace, choose your destination, present your race bib, and enjoy your complimentary return trip. Ferries run from 9:30 am-12:30 pm on a space available basis. Participants must present their race bib number to be identified as a FREE rider, no exceptions.  Friends, family & spectators may purchase tickets at the Ferry Landing ticket kiosks for $7 each. Children 3 and under ride for free.

Service dogs are the only animals permitted on the ferries.

 

Race Bib Numbers

If you didn't receive your bib number in the mail or on Saturday at our packet pickup, please see us in front of the Hilton starting at 6:30am to pickup up your bib number. All participants MUST wear their race bib number on the front in order to cross the Coronado Bridge.  The number is required to record your time and place (If the timing option is chosen during registration), and to pick up your event T-shirt and Finisher’s Medal. Numbers are non-transferable so no one else may wear a number assigned to you.

Runner's Gear

You may check in your warm-ups at the start line near registration beginning at 6:30am.  All items turned in by 7:30 am will be available for pick up at the finish line by 8 am.  All items turned in after 7:30 am will be available after 9 am.  All bags subject to search.  Do not leave any bags unattended at any time during the event.  Do NOT pack valuables.  MWR is not responsible for lost items.  Bags may be claimed at the finish line when you present your race number.

Finisher's Medal

Each participant who crosses the finish line receives a commemorative finisher’s medal.  Simply redeem the tear-away tag from your race bib number at the FINISHER’S MEDAL BOOTH, AFTER the finish line to collect your medal.

T-Shirts

Commemorative high-quality 100% pre-shrunk cotton T-shirts are distributed to all registered participants at the Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up event at Road Runner Sports and AFTER the finish line booth in Tidelands Park.  You must present your race bib to claim your T-shirt.  Sizes are available while supplies last.

Unique Awards

Awards are presented to the TOP THREE (3) finishers in each AGE division at the awards table next to the stage. Age divisions are as follows: 12 & under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+. 5-person Competitive Teams: Your cumulative times go towards your overall ranking. All 5 team members must finish in order to be ranked. Team awards go to the top 3 overall teams. Not eligible for age group awards. Awards handout will begin around 9:15 am.

Post-Run/Walk Party

Invite your friends to cheer for you at the finish line and celebrate at the post-race party at Tidelands Park in Coronado.  Enjoy refreshments, live music, and sponsor booths.  Make plans to stick around for the awards presentation and terrific drawing prizes from approximately 9:15 am-10:30 am.  You must be present to win drawing prizes.

Water & Restrooms

Water and restrooms are available at the start and finish line and before the bridge at the Chicano Park water station.  It is your responsibility to remain sufficiently hydrated throughout the race.  Please keep in mind, all participants must be on the bridge by 8:45 am, approximately 1 mile, to allow for the reopening of traffic lanes.  

SAFETY

New this year - wave starts for your running enjoyment and safety!

As always, we ask that participants take personal responsibility for your safety. If you have a temperature and/or are not feeling well, do not attend the event. Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Below are some guidelines to help keep everyone safe:

Anyone who is sick, feeling any symptoms of fever, cough or trouble breathing should stay home.  If you are a participant, remember that a friend/family member can pickup your bib number and t-shirt, provided they have a copy of your ID and registration confirmation.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then dispose of it. We will have tissues, wipes and trash cans readily available to assist you. Be sure to wash your hands often with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
