Mobile Medical Care (MobileMed) was founded over 50 years ago by two volunteer physicians Herman “Arnold” Meyersburg and George Cohen who saw huge disparities in access to quality healthcare. They brought friends, colleagues and community activists together to address the problem and MobileMed was born.
Our clinic network throughout Montgomery County serves those in need, and we collaborate in the community to promote care to hard-to-reach populations. MobileMed has never turned anyone away for inability to pay for healthcare services.
Today MobileMed’s vision remains incredibly relevant, delivering accessible primary healthcare to 4,700 low-income residents who might otherwise go without timely care.
According to Dr. Cohen (who retired from volunteering only a few years ago!), MobileMed today faces the same challenges it has always faced: having enough financial and volunteer resources to sustain the general operations of the clinics.

MobileMed is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the first based entirely in Montgomery County. In 2019, we were awarded recognition as a health center quality leader. In our latest satisfaction survey, 96% of patients reported that they were treated respectfully and efficiently.
