About Not One More York Chapter

It started with just two moms . . .

Not One More-York Chapter was unofficially formed in 2014 when two mothers at different ends of the addiction journey met. Vickie Glatfelter had lost her son, Bob, in April 2014 from an accidental fentanyl overdose. Alyssa Rohrbaugh had just found out that her son was using heroin. In 2015, these two women formed a Board of Directors and officially launched York County's Chapter of Not One More.

Eleven years ago, we could never have imagined how far we would come. Our original vision was not how things ended up happening, but we honestly learned along the way. Vickie and I were blessed to have the support of the York County Heroin Task Force (now the York Opioid Collaborative), and the York Recovery Committee (now the York Partnership for Recovery), as well as many other organizations that allowed two moms to come to their meetings and share how they felt. We ended up, along the way, gaining the trust of families that had lost loved ones who struggled with substance abuse. These families gave us the energy and strength to be their voice and try to make a difference. These families and those suffering were the reasons we continued to build and move forward. Armed with their words and entrusted with their stories, we started to become affiliated with all the organizations in York working to fight the opioid epidemic.

Along the way, we realized we had a lot to learn. Vickie took a job at Safe Haven, where she became known as "Miss Vickie." I immersed myself in the recovery world and decided, as a nonaddict, to go through the 12 steps of recovery through AA to learn more about the things that each person in recovery dealt with. I also found myself, as Vickie did at her job, loving so many people who were struggling. We learned our most valuable lessons through those in recovery and those battling addiction, and their families. Those families offered us a look – as no one else could – at how they were coping. And those individuals struggling, we found, were the only people who could explain recovery and addiction to someone else.

We were blessed beyond belief to have different people who were deeply impacted by addiction enter our lives. Some of these people are now on our Board of Directors, and we never would have gotten as far as we have had it not been for them. We are a small volunteer board, and support from the community allows us to continue to carry out our mission.

On April 5, 2021, my dear friend Vickie left this world to be with her son, Bob. He is the reason this organization is here in York. We all miss her so much, but we continue on and keep our grassroots efforts going, as she started them.

One of Vickie’s dreams was that NOM-York would establish a family center where those seeking help and resources could find a comfortable, welcoming place to get help. That was achieved in 2025 when the Not One More-York Family Center opened at 1337 East Market Street in York. The Center is where we provide the programs below, which were created to meet the evolving needs of the York County community.

Support Groups

C.A.R.E.S. (Compassion, Advocacy, Resources, Empowerment, Support) is for families and friends of a loved one who struggles with addiction. The group meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday at the NOM Family Center and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday in Delta at Faith Community Chapel, 424 Broad Street Extended.

Family Connections is for kinship families that are raising children due to substance use disorder. Kinship care is when children live with relatives, such as grandparents, aunts or uncles, adult siblings or other extended family members. The group offers free events every other month.

Fences and Bridges (F.a.B.) is a group for children ages 7 to 15 who have been impacted by substance use disorder. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at the NOM Family Center.
