Description
The McGuire Nelson Memorial 5K is in memory of Richard McGuire and Katie Nelson. Richard was a fourth year dental student who tragically lost his battle to Sickle Cell Anemia in August of 2019. Katie was a third year dental student who tragically lost her battle to Leukemia in April of 2020. September is Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness month and Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness month. This run/walk is just one way that we hope to raise awareness and remember the impact that Richard and Katie had on the Case School of Dental Medicine Community.
Proceeds will be donated to Project One Ten in Richard's memory and to the St. Baldrick's Foundation in Katie's memory.
UPDATE: While the race registration is CLOSED, we are still accepting donations until Monday September 28th. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the race will take place virtually! This means that you can complete the run/walk anywhere on Saturday, September 26th and enter your results into runsignup by September 30th. Please join Case's American Student Dental Association for our first virtual 5K by continuing on to the 'sign up' page. A t-shirt is included in your registration fee. Donations are also accepted and will be distributed to the organizations listed above as identified. Thank you for your participation!
