Steps For Sarcoma

Steps for Sarcoma is a 5K (3.1 mile) walk/run and 1 mile walk that benefits the Steps for Sarcoma Research Fund at The James Cancer Hospital. The fund was created in 2010 through Dr. Joel Mayerson’s vision of a sarcoma event in central Ohio and the assistance of a patient and husband – Chantil and Justin Milam. Drs. Mayerson and Scharschmidt’s staff assisted with the first event and have solely managed the events thereafter.

Our event committee, staff, and volunteers work year-round to make this event a reality for our patients, families, and sarcoma friends. We are making an impact in sarcoma research, the lives of those affected by this disease, and their loved ones.

Because of you, this event continues to grow every year in participants and fundraising for sarcoma research. In 2015, we had 1300 registered participants and raised $173,116! We now have an amazing six year total profit of $619,700 which goes to the Steps for Sarcoma Research Fund at The James Cancer Hospital. We are proud to say that your donation goes to fund only sarcoma research.
