The Great Falls Patriot Run/Walk has been one of the top 4ths of July events over the past several years for the City of Cuyahoga Falls. This year is no different, except we must have our run/walk as a virtual race due to the strict guidelines of the Department of Health for the State of Ohio.
The 4th of July is fireworks, outdoor cookouts, sparklers, sprinklers, community parades, Uncle Sam, family, and swimming, but for the patients of the Falls Cancer Club it means not always being able to participate in all the fun activities because of their daily fight to survive the cancer they have been diagnosed with.
Our 2021 Great Falls Virtual Patriot Run/Walk is your chance for doing what you love while helping the Falls Cancer Club’s registered cancer patients. Run/Walk with them in your mind and your heart with hopes and prayers. Don Sitts Auto Sales Inc is this year’s major sponsor along with Falls Heating & Cooling. 100% of your runner/walker fees go directly to pay Hospital, Doctor, Labs, Pharmaceutical bills of our registered Cancer patients. No fees are used for anything but that. Our sponsor’s pay for everything to do with this event.

As a club member and marathon/ultra-marathoner I have put my heart and soul into my health. Unfortunately, my body chose to give me unhealthy cells (cancer) which started my journey to educate and self-advocate. I joined Falls Cancer Club as my nonprofit in my soul searching. Running has been a constant for many years so as a balance I was onto something ginormous as Great Falls Patriot Run which has filled my heart.
On a personal level running as quirky as I write is a form of meditation bringing a sense of satisfaction knowing that, however many miles, whomever smiled, gave me an atta girl, or even shared the road w/me gives me peace from my cancer. My recent runs my thoughts seem to revolve around change. Change is always uncomfortable but always gives us the opportunity to do things differently.
The Great Falls Patriot Run formed 2yrs before our National Pandemic, many heartfelt events were cancelled. We chose as a committee to switch to a virtual Great Falls Patriot Run due to COVID 19 restrictions per health dept were just too much for our all-volunteer club to handle. We will be having individual, teams, and found several corporations if employed by them will pay for your run. Donation jar is always a perfect at work for the hearts that want to run but your bodies that cannot.
Falls Cancer Club meetings are held at a local church. Many of my miles on the road pass by and see beautiful memos on their signage. Here is 1 that has spoken to me:

Solicit your business to sponsor or match your fee with a matching donation. Solicit your community, run for a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer and continue to fight. Name your teams if you want. Think of creative Team Names!
Promote/Advertise your run/walk with signs, balloons, flags – be creative. Post a picture, video, screenshot of your course that you select on your social media accounts and tag Falls Cancer Club. Post info on your run/walk as to what was good, bad, pace, time, distance, calories burned. There are lots of aps that do it all for you.
Submit your results for bragging rights if you wish for your age group. T shirts will be handed out in person on July 1st and July 2nd at the Cuyahoga Falls High School Parking Lot on Stow Avenue from 4pm to 6:30 pm each day.
You can run/walk our designated route or design you own that is a 1-mile fun walk run or the 5K run/walk 3-mile length.
For those who paid and signed up on RunSignUp.com from 2020 you are automatically part of the 2021 Great Falls Patriot Virtual Run/Walk and paid in full.
