Thanksgiving is a day for Turkey Trots, lots of homecooked food, family, and football. And maybe a nap. And then comes Friday... leftovers galore. You'll be eating turkey and mashed potatoes in various forms for days! 

As runners, we all have plenty of clothing and shoes that are "leftover" from prior seasons or no longer see the wear we thought they would. 

And lastly, as race directors (okay, maybe that's just us!) we always have extra shirts and medals when a race is completed. We've accumulated a lot of "leftover" swag over the years and we thought we might do something fun before we make a donation to help those in need. So we came up with the Leftover Run and we're asking for your help.

The Leftover Run?

Yes! This race typically takes place on Black Friday at the Dublin Recreation Center. This year, we're going virtual and giving you the option to have everything mailed directly to you so you can complete the Leftover Run at a place of your choosing over the Thanksgiving weekend. If you choose the pickup option, you will need to stop by  Columbus Running Company's Dublin location on Black Friday (November 27) between 10a-2p to pick up your race gear.

The concept is pretty basic: we have leftover race shirts and medals from events over the past few years. You pay $15 to participate (or $25 if you choose the shipping option) in the Leftover Run and you'll get a race shirt in your indicated size and a medal. Simple!

Please note: the option to have your race gear shipped is only available through November 20th. Registrants from November 21st through November 26th will be required to pick up their Leftover gear at the packet pickup on Black Friday.

You said you can use my help, how does that work?

This race supports the Columbus Running Company Charity Fund. The Columbus Running Company Charity Fund is a 501c3 organization evolved from our mission to benefit both the running and local communities. The CRC Charity Fund focuses its efforts on youth running participation through scholarships to the Grasshoppers Running Club and providing discounted race timing and logistics support to a small number of approved 501c3 races that have both the athlete and charity in mind. Race FAQ

Is there any in-person pickup?

If you choose the shipping option, you will have your materials mailed to you to arrive prior to the event. We anticipate mailing all those who selected shipping on November 20-21. Those selecting the pickup only option will be required to get their materials at Columbus Running Company's Dublin location on Black Friday (November 27) between 10 AM and 2 PM. The bonus of the in-store pickup? You will get to shop all of the Black Friday deals at the CRC!

What time does this thing start?

You can complete your Leftover Run any time between Friday, November 27 and Sunday, November 29, 2020. Instructions for reporting your results can be found here.

Do I have to bring something to donate?

Absolutely not! You're welcome to register and participate, no clothing or financial donation beyond the registration fee is required. If you signed up for the pickup option and would like to bring any clothing to donate to Goodwill Columbus when you pick up your race gear, feel free to do so!

Can you tell us what shirts and/or medals will be offered?

Not all of them, but we can tell you that there are leftover shirts and medals from the recent Columbus 10K events and a number of other events the CRC has produced over recent years.

Since you didn't have to pay for shirts and medals, why are we even paying $15 to run in this thing?!?

We do still have a few event production costs associated with putting on the Leftover Run, so we need to be sure those are covered. Anything we have, umm... left over (sorry, we had to) after we pay our bills for the race will be included in the donation check to the Columbus Running Company Charity Fund.

Are there any awards for this event?

There are no awards for the Leftover Run. This year's run is virtual. Get out there and get after it!!
