Black Friday event start time: 9:00 AM

Thanksgiving is a day for Turkey Trots, lots of homecooked food, family, and football. And maybe a nap. And then comes Friday... leftovers galore. You'll be eating turkey and mashed potatoes in various forms for days! 

As runners, we all have plenty of clothing and shoes that are "leftover" from prior seasons or no longer see the wear we thought they would. 

And lastly, as race directors (okay, maybe that's just us!) we always have extra shirts and medals when a race is completed. We've accumulated a lot of "leftover" swag over the years and we thought we might do something fun before we make a donation to help those in need. So we came up with the Leftover Run and we're asking for your help.

The Leftover Run?

Yes! This race takes place on Black Friday at the Dublin Recreation Center. The concept is pretty basic: we have leftover race shirts and medals from events over the past few years. You pay $20 to participate in the Leftover Run and you'll get a race shirt in your indicated size and a medal. Runners and walkers are welcome. Simple!

You said you can use my help, how does that work?

This race supports the Columbus Running Company Charity Fund. The Columbus Running Company Charity Fund is a 501c3 organization that evolved from our mission to benefit both the running and local communities. The CRC Charity Fund focuses its efforts on youth running participation through scholarships to the Grasshoppers Running Club and providing discounted race timing and logistics support to a small number of approved 501c3 races that have both the athlete and charity in mind. Race FAQ

Parking

There is ample parking at the Dublin Community Recreation Center (5600 Post Rd, map and directions below). The race will be starting/finishing nearest the NW parking lot.

Race Day Timeline

  • 8:00 AM - Race day bib and shirt pickup will begin - PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!
  • 9:00 AM - The Leftover Run is underway!
  • 9:01 AM - Any remaining t-shirts are now up for sale

Is there any early packet pickup?

There will be NO EARLY PACKET PICKUP FOR THIS RACE! All race number pickup and shirt choosing will be done before the event beginning at 800am. Shirt and medal choosing will continue after the race until our final participant gets their medal.

What if I want more than one shirt?

We'll have plenty of shirts for everyone registered and then some. If you would like to go home with some additional swag, we're here to help. After everyone registered has had a chance to collect the one shirt included with their registration (ie, once the race starts), we will sell all remaining shirts. You can purchase 1-5 additional shirts for a total of $5, 6-10 additional shirts for $10, and so on. All monies paid for additional shirts will benefit the Columbus Running Company Charity Fund.

What time does this thing start?

The Leftover Run will begin at 900a sharp!

Do I have to take a shirt when I arrive on race day?

No way! While we think there are some nice shirts that we'll be including in the Leftover Run, we don't want to force anyone to take things they don't need or want. If you just want to treat this as an opportunity to run an event with the family after some early morning Black Friday shopping, we completely understand! The same goes for the medals as you finish. If you don't want any of them, we won't make you take one.

Can you tell us what shirts and/or medals will be offered?

Not all of them, but we can tell you that there are leftover shirts and medals from past Columbus 10K events (no 10K medals from 2020-22, though) and a number of other events the CRC has produced over recent years.

Since you didn't have to pay for shirts and medals, why are we even paying $20 to run in this thing?!?

We do still have event production costs associated with putting on the Leftover Run, so we need to be sure those are covered. Anything we have, umm... left over (sorry, we had to) after we pay our bills for the race will be included in the donation check to the Columbus Running Company Charity Fund.

Are there any awards for this event?

We will provide a curated "leftover" top finisher prize pack for the top three overall non-binary, female, and male finishers. Additionally, the race will be chip timed on a measured and accurate course, so you can confidently use any time you run as a PR if you're strong enough to get one the day after Thanksgiving. 

Will there be a post-race feast?!?

This is pretty much a no-frills event. We'll have bottled water at the finish line. There will be no on-course water station. If you desire water during your 5K trek, please plan to bring your own personal hydration.

Anything else I need to know?

Headphones and running strollers are okay, but running with pets is prohibited due to our insurance restrictions.
