Description
On September 14, 2010 a ten year-old Hilliard City School student from Ridgewood Elementary, Cody Jewell, was hit by a car waiting for the school bus on Scioto-Darby Creek Road. The first responder and witness to the accident was Mrs. Julie Caserta, a fifth grade teacher at Hoffman Trails Elementary. Julie’s compassion and presence held Cody at the scene. Sadly, this tragic accident took Cody’s life. During the grieving process of this event, many people, like Julie, were struck by the deep faith, commitment to education, and good will of this young man.
Taking this unfortunate experience and creating something positive Mrs. Caserta has created The Cody Jewell Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be available to graduating Hilliard seniors and managed by the Hilliard Education Foundation.
All participants will receive a t-shirt and a Chris Cakes breakfast. (PLEASE NOTE: T-Shirts are not guaranteed starting on September 30th)
