Description
The lack of access to safe drinking water is the leading cause of death in the world. Unsafe drinking water kills more people than earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, and all other natural disasters combined. It kills more people than cancer, AIDS, malaria, or heart disease. Over 2,000,000 children in developing countries die from contaminated drinking water.
Living Water International is a faith-based organization that has been drilling wells in developing countries around the world for over 20 years. The purpose of the Run for Living Water 5K is to raise awareness of the fact that lack of access to safe drinking water is the leading cause of death in the world, and to raise funds for Living Water International to enable to them to further their mission of helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water.
