Description
Come join us for the third annual All for Abs Memorial Run/Walk in honor of 2016 Sandusky Central Catholic (SCCS) graduate, Abigail Bastien. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be converting our race to a virtual option. Participants will have until June 1 to register for the event. Packet pick up will be at Mills Creek Golf Course on Friday, June 12. Participants will have from June 12 through June 22 to complete their laps virtually at their convenience, or may instead schedule tee-times for groups of no more than 10 to complete the walk/run at Mills Creek Golf Course on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 between 7:30 and 9:30 pm. For those who decide to complete the run/walk on their own time, we would love to see your pictures posted on the All for Abs 5K Facebook page.
All proceeds raised through this event will be placed in the Abigail Bastien Scholarship Fund, which is used to award two annual scholarships to a graduating SCCS and Perkins High School student athlete.
*Important Race Update*
All for Abs was designed to bring a community of people together: Abby’s family, friends, friends of friends, and ultimately anyone she was able to impact in her short 19 years. We’ve been thinking of ways to make this year’s virtual race serve that same purpose and came up with a solution that should be a lot of fun and a great keepsake for years to come.
If you’re participating this year, we’re asking you to send in a short video running, walking, or just talking and sharing any of the following:
1. Why you’re running All for Abs
2. A favorite memory of Abby or how you met
3. Just showing that you’re out supporting!
It doesn’t matter if you knew her personally or not, no need to overthink it. Please record all videos horizontally. You can email the videos to kgennarixe@gmail.com or text them to 419-202-5527 by June 23rd.
Following the race, we’ll create a video collab of every submission and share on Facebook for all to enjoy. Though we’re running apart, we can still be together. We look forward hearing your “why,” smiling over memories, and most of all, seeing the faces of everyone who made a difference in Abby’s life and continues her legacy!
Abigail (Abs) was the class president, member of numerous clubs, an incredible athlete, and an all-around leader. After graduating, she pursued her dream of studying molecular and cellular biology at Johns Hopkins University. Abigail was spending the summer in Baltimore performing lab research when on July 13th, 2017, she unexpectedly passed away. While she had many defining characteristics, one of Abigail’s greatest loves was running. Throughout high school she was one of the top Track & Field athletes and accumulated countless awards, including a state medal. She continued her passion collegiately after being recruited for the Johns Hopkins Track & Field team.
