Benita, known to her family as Mammy, suffered from a very rare and aggressive form of Ovarian Cancer called Gynecological Carcinosarcoma (GCS). She was diagnosed in October, 2012 and she passed away six years later in November, 2018 after enduring untold anguish.

In memory of Mammy, we invite you to join us in the 1st Annual Memorial 5K Run/Walk that will help raise funds for research for GCS. The ONLY research that is being done towards this cancer has been through the team at the GCS Project, a U.S. tax exempt 501(c)(3) organi-zation. The GCS Project is the designated charity for this annual event and 100% of every dollar raised will go towards research to find a cure so that no one else’s “Mammy” has to endure her level of suffering again.

There's an "After Glow" party at Mother Stewart's Brewing Company, Springfield, OH at 7:00 pm til closing in the private party room with the band Rich Carey Project, Mimi's Grilled Cheese is the Food Truck, and Mother Stewart's is donating $1 per pint poured to GCS Project (both front and back of the house) all night long.

The race is also dog-friendly!   Thank you for your support
