2024 Striders 5K Cancelled
Hello,
We are very sorry to say that due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are going to have to cancel the 2024 Bob Young Memorial 5k. In place of this, though, we would like to offer to everyone a free event that will take the place of the 5k: Steubenville Strong Towns: Cycle the City 5k Bike & Walk. This event will take place at the same time and day as the 5k would have. More details on the event below:
Cycle The City by Steubenville Strong Towns
With the weather warming up, Steubenville Strong Towns is pleased to announce that Cycle the City is back for another year! We will meet the last Saturday of each month for a bike ride downtown. This month, on Saturday, April 27th, we will be meeting at the Fort Steuben Fountain at 9:45am, and will head out on the ride at 10:00am. This walk/bike route will follow the Striders 5k route around downtown. For bikers only, there will be an optional advanced route though Beatty Park. Depending on the number of people, there will be multiple groups of varying speeds so nobody is left behind. Great for family members without bikes, or with young children. Following the ride, we will have refreshments and fellowship.

Join us for the first annual Bob Young Memorial 5k in honor of founder!
Leashed Dogos, Playful Kiddos, and Rambunctious Teenagers (and more!) are all encouraged to come and get all their energy out at any of our events for the day: 5k run, 5k walk, 1 mile run, 1 mile walk, and Kids Fun Run! All proceeds of this 5k will go towards the Steuben Striders Track Club

Bob Young first started the Steuben Striders in 1973. His mission was to provide fun, positive sporting activities to the children of the Ohio Valley. The Steuben Striders Track Club has carried on his mission since his passing and promises to do so each summer. Please join us for our first ever 5k in his honor by registering below. The year 2023 ushers in the Steuben Striders Track Club’s 50th anniversary. However, we will be commemorating our 50th anniversary throughout 2023 and 2024, since we did not have a season in 2020. To celebrate this milestone, we are announcing a new project, which will take place over the next year: A Documentary.
To memorialize all of the hard work that Coach Patrica Herring and the Steuben Striders Staff and Coaches invest each year, we are filming a documentary with the film studio, Unknown Waters, to tell the Steuben Striders’ origin story. Filming has already begun and will be a year-long project! The documentary will premier in Spring of 2024. The documentary will cover how Bob Young came to found the Steuben Striders, what Coach Pat did to keep the program running after his passing, and who we are today.

Bring a copy or photo of the flyer with you to let the server know you're there to support the Striders, then sit back and enjoy dinner.
Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of total food purchase to the Steuben Striders, no cost to you!
We will be out front at Texas Roadhouse with registration for both the 5k and the Regular Season - stop by and say hi!
