THE OFFICIAL TRAINING PROGRAM OF THE MERCY HEALTH GLASS CITY MARATHON
Dave's Spring In-Training Program gives you the benefit of personal coaching through a training plan designed to get you ready to race and achieve your goal. All training programs will begin Monday, January 6th, 2025. The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon and Savage 5K will be the goal events for all the programs offered. Each program will have different pace groups to meet individual needs and dedicated coaches to help out in each group. Come out and join hundreds of other runners who enjoy Training the Dave's Way!!!
NEW IN 2025!!! TRAINING TILT PLATFORM FOR EVERYONE
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Dave's Training Programs added an online training option, and it has flourished over the last 4 years. The Training Tilt app is such a fantastic aid for remote trainers that Dave's is now adding the app to the entire program as another tool for your training. One of the most useful features in the Training Tiit app is the interactive training calendar where you can sync your Strava account or Garmin device.
The Dave's REMOTE TRAINERS will receive weekly coaching advice and encouragement from Dave's Training Director.
BEGINNER HALF-MARATHON & 5K PROGRAMS
If you're looking to complete your first half-marathon or 5K, Dave's Running Shop will get you to the finish line with a detailed, 16-week training plan geared toward the Glass City Half-Marathon/Savage 5K. This training plan will gradually build your mileage and assist you in getting used to the longer training runs incrementally, so you are ready to tackle the half marathon or 5K distance by race day.
Prior to the start of the training program, you will receive a welcome email regarding the logistics. Best of luck and thanks for allowing Dave's Running Shop the opportunity to coach you.

2025 SPRING TRAINING GEAR
INDOOR TRACK WORKOUT
Perry Field House
You will meet on the BGSU indoor track on Tuesday evenings for the first 10 weeks at the Perry Field House on the Bowling Green State University campus. Here you will get out of the Ohio winter for a little track/speed work. After March 16th, the in-person program will meet at the Walt Churchill Track @ 6:30PM for the remainder of the session.
Practice Times (It will be alternating sessions so you aren't stuck either coming in early or staying late each week)
- Session 1—6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
- Session 2—7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
There is a locker room with showers located inside Perry Field House. These are available for daily use when you are there but no long-term storage of personal belongings is available.
SATURDAY LONG RUN
Local Metroparks/Venues
The most important part of any long distance training program is the long run. Every Saturday @ 8:00 AM, we will meet at varying locations throughout the Toledo area to complete the long mileage required for race day.
Marathon Trainers will meet at 7:00 AM after January.
