THE OFFICIAL TRAINING PROGRAM OF THE MERCY HEALTH GLASS CITY MARATHON
Dave's Spring In-Training Program offers personal coaching with a training plan designed to help you reach your goal. All plans start on Monday, January 5th, 2026. The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon and Savage 5K will be the target events for all the programs. Each program has different pace groups to meet individual needs and dedicated coaches to assist each group. Join hundreds of other runners who enjoy Training the Dave's Way!
TRAINING TILT PLATFORM FOR EVERYONE
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Dave's Training Programs added an online training option, and it has flourished over the last 5 years. The Training Tilt app is such a fantastic tool for remote trainers that Dave's is now including the app as an option for anyone in the program as another training resource. One of the most useful features in the Training Tilt app is the interactive training calendar, where you can sync your Strava account or Garmin device.
The Dave's REMOTE TRAINERS will receive weekly coaching advice and encouragement from Dave's Training Team.
BEGINNER HALF-MARATHON & 5K PROGRAMS
If you're aiming to complete your first half-marathon or 5K, Dave's Running Shop will help you reach the finish line with a detailed, 16-week training plan tailored for the Glass City Half-Marathon/Savage 5K. This plan gradually increases your mileage and helps you adapt to longer runs step by step, so you're prepared to handle the half-marathon or 5K on race day.
Before the start of the training program, you will receive a welcome email regarding the logistics. Best of luck and thanks for allowing Dave's Running Shop the opportunity to coach you.

2026 SPRING TRAINING GEAR
INDOOR TRACK WORKOUT
Perry Field House
You will meet on the BGSU indoor track on Tuesday evenings for the first 10 weeks at the Perry Field House on the Bowling Green State University campus. Here you will get out of the Ohio winter for a little track/speed work. After March 10th, the in-person program will meet at the Walt Churchill Track @ 6:30PM for the remainder of the session.
Practice Times (It will be alternating sessions so you aren't stuck either coming in early or staying late each week)
- Session 1—6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
- Session 2—7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
There is a locker room with showers located inside Perry Field House. These are available for daily use when you are there but no long-term storage of personal belongings is available.
SATURDAY LONG RUN
Local Metroparks/Venues
The most important part of any long distance training program is the long run. Every Saturday @ 8:00 AM, we will meet at varying locations throughout the Toledo area to complete the long mileage required for race day.
Marathon Trainers will meet at 7:00 AM after January.
