Description

Join the WOLF PACK for an on and off road duathlon featuring a 5K trail run, a 12 mile road bike ride, and 2.5K trail run in John Bryan State Park! John Bryan State Park is distinguished by its remarkable limestone gorge, which the Little Miami State and National Scenic River cut many years ago. The gorge, a National Natural Landmark, offers hikers splendid views from the trail.

RACE PERMITTED UNDER SPECIAL USE AUTHORIZATION FROM JOHN BRYAN STATE PARK

The John Bryan campground is nice but sells out fast. Another fantastic option is to stay at the Rustic Retreat in Xenia (a short drive away). The owners of the Rustic Retreat, which includes vintage Airstream campers and cozy guest rooms, are PACK PASS members and sponsors of the Wolf Pack running series. Schedule

April 20

9:15-9:45AM: Duathlon race check in. You will receive your bib and your race sticker.

9:45AM: Pre-race meeting. The Race Director will go over course markings and other important information.

10:00AM: Duathlon starts.

4:00PM: Finish line closes.

Insider Tips

  1. The course will be marked with color coded flags, cones, and arrows. You will have to PAY ATTENTION to stay on course. Don't just follow the person in front of you!
  2. There is a full aid station and water station at the transition area at the Start/Finish. You will hit the Start/Finish between each leg of the race. 
  3. This is a trail and mixed terrain event. Be sure to include similar terrain on your training runs and rides!

6 Hours of Power Events

Regular 5K scoring for your fastest 5K (You must finish the entire event, 4 loops, to receive these points)

1 Point for every loop you run over 4. You must run at least 4 loops to complete the race. You will receive 1 point for every loop you run over 4. 

 

Duathlons

3 Points for attending the event

1 Point for each leg of the race you complete

The Big Bushwhack

Points for your fastest loop:

Under 90 Minutes: 4 Points

Under 100 Minutes: 3 Points

Under 110 Minutes: 2 Points

Over 110 Minutes: 1 Point

3 Points for finishing all 3 loops (You have 120 Minutes to finish each loop)

 

5K Pub Runs

2 Points for attending the event 

Under 20 minutes: 5 Points

Under 23:30 minutes: 4 Points

Under 27 minutes: 3 Points

Under 30 minutes: 2 Points

Over 30 minutes: 1 Point for finishing

 

Note: Some events are relay events, but points are based on individual results.

The overall season points leader gets a champion t-shirt, a PACK PASS for the following year, 7 days usage of a 2023 Subaru Outback (travel in Montana/Wyoming) complete with camping gear, $250 airline credit, two nights paid camping at a Montana KOA of choice, free travel advice, and bragging rights! Prize has no cash value.

The next 6 overall points leaders will receive a custom Wolf Pack t-shirt, and entry into a raffle to win a (see above) Montana camping package. The raffle will only include the next 6 points leaders. Prize has no cash value.

Points will be updated and emailed in our seasonally weekly newsletter (Tuesdays during the season).
