Peace One Day Virtual 5k

Fri September 18 - Mon September 21

Description

***NOTE: This race is now a Virtual event only. All proceeds from the event support CISV.***

The Peace One Day 5k is a new 5k by Free To Run Foundation coinciding with International Peace Day. For 2020, the race will be a virtual event only, where you will run or walk the 5k on your own, wherever you are, anytime between Friday, September 18 and Monday, September 21. If you are located in the Troy, Ohio area, we will have a course marked with chalk on the bike path starting and ending at Treasure Island Park, if you would like to do the originally planned course. Proceeds benefit CISV Midwest Ohio.

During registration, you can choose to purchase a custom, environmentally-friendly, race shirt. If you do not wish to purchase a shirt in addition to the the race registration, select the "No Shirt" option. Note: you need to register by September 6th if you want to get a shirt! Every paid participant, however, will receive a Fair Trade Peace bracelet handcrafted in Guatemala, thanks to our friends at Pachamama Market. There are two varieties to choose from during registration. We will communicate pick-up options for the shirts and the bracelet in the week leading up to the race.

Under 18 & Family Pricing

The price for minors (under 18) is $10 instead of $20, and for families of 3 or more, the maximum price is capped at $50.

International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is celebrated every year on the 21st day of September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

About CISV

CISV is a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation and understanding. Founded in 1950, today we are a federation of 69 Member Associations with over 200 Chapters or local groups. In over 60 years we have given countless children and young people the experience of their lives and the opportunity to build lasting friendships through our international educational programs. At the heart of all of our programs is friendship, in line with our founding belief that peace is possible through friendship and mutual understanding.

The Midwest Ohio chapter got its official start in 1956, when a Village program was hosted in Miami County. For more information about the chapter, visit https://midwestohio.cisvusa.org.

Mission: CISV educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world.

A Note about Covid-19

Depending on how the state's loosening restrictions play out over the summer months along with the trend of coronavirus cases, it's possible that like many races have had to do this year, we may have to convert the race to a virtual event. If we have to make that decision, we will do our best to provide options to our participants, like transferring your registration to virtual or deferring to next year. The timing of any changes will likely be out of our control, as state orders come occur in early September. We will communicate with all of our participants any change of plans due to the coronavirus.
