Bread Run - 19 Mile Virtual Run

Discovery Church OK, located in Collinsville, OK is hosting the Bread Run 2020, a 19-mile virtual run starting on May 4th and running through May 31st.  Whether you are a runner, walker, child, or adult, anyone can take part in this go-at-your-own-pace event!  With social distancing measures and social gatherings restricted through May, this is a great way to set a fitness goal and support an important cause.  Read below for instructions and more on our fundraising efforts!

Even if you don't enter the race as a participant, you can still grab a t-shirt to support our cause and our virtual participants!

HOW THE VIRTUAL RACE WORKS:

 - Participants will keep track of your mileage, either on a phone app, or just old-fashioned pen and paper log. Your time doesn't matter, just your distance.     

- Once the you have finished the 19 miles, you will send an email to virtual@i40raceservice.com, documenting your run information.  This can be a picture(s) of your running watch, screenshot(s) of apps on your phone, or picture of a written or typed log you've kept along the way. 

- Once the event starts wrapping up towards the end of May, we will send out your packets that include a pair of SHORTS and a finisher medal! 

AWARDS:  Here is your extra incentive to get signed up early and get your 19 miles in as quickly as you can!

- Finish between May 4th and May 13th - Gold Medal 

- May 14th to May 24th - Silver Medal   

- May 25th to May 31st - Bronze Medal

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? 

As part of Discovery's commitment to support Local Causes, this race benefits a local ministry known as Dividing Bread Ministries. In the past this organization's five ministry thrift store locations have provided 95% of their operating income, paying for rent, utilities, food costs, etc.  Their stores, like so many others, have been without income for over a month. They cannot count on that income to continue in the same manner in the future. As DBM changes and adapts their fundraising efforts, Discovery Church OK is sponsoring this virtual event to help to continue their commitment to feed over 200 families each and every week, moving over 20,000 pounds of food a month through their 4 food pantries.
