Norman Firecracker 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

Join us for a fun-filled way to kick off your Independence Day celebration in the City of Norman, while running for a good cause!

Kick off the festivities at 8:00 am with the Norman Firecracker 5k at Legacy Park. Hosted by Oklahoma Race Company and partnered with the City of Norman Parks and Recreation Department, this race is a great way to start your day and show your patriotic spirit. 

Oklahoma Race Company has also partnered with Meals On Wheels of Norman, OK to make a difference in the community through this event!  A portion of the overall proceeds from this race will go to the non-profit Meals On Wheels of Norman, OK.  You also have the opportunity to donate to the charity during registration and 100% of these proceeds will go directly to Meals On Wheels of Norman, OK. • 5k & 1 Miler's will get a cool finisher medal, free professional race photos, swag bag and a customized race bib.

  • Swag bags will contain the following:

    • Race customized sweat towel

    • Chapstick (made with organic ingredients) - limited to first 300 participants

    • Redrock Canyon Grill Free Starter (appetizer) card - limited to first 160 packet pick ups

    • Norman Chamber brochure

• Run on a fast and flat USATF Certified course.

• Hear your name announced at the Finish Line by national broadcaster, author, running ambassador and running coach MARK BRAVO!

• Racers (as a group) will get a dynamic stretching and body weight exercise warm up prior to the race by certified personal trainer Mandii with Collective Health and Wellness. 

• Racers will be able to get under the cool misting tent after the race, courtesy of ReadyMist Outdoor Misting Solutions. 

• Racers will have the opportunity to purchase IV hydration and get information on personal training after the race provided by Collective Health and Wellness.

• Visit our race partner tents Collective Health and Wellness, Crunch Fitness & Hotworx for giveaways!

• Dance, run/walk or BOTH to high energy DJ sounds from DJ Adrian with Nexus Productions.

• Racers have the opportunity to purchase a race day t-shirt at check out or at the race (if any shirts remain) and shirts can be picked up at packet pick up or on race day. We can not guarantee size availability if not purchased/reserved at time of registration.  Our race t-shirt's this year are super fun, as they are sun-activated, meaning they reveal something more in the sun! 

• Age group awards will be given this year at the post race awards ceremony.

PACKET PICK UP INFORMATION:  

Event participants have two opportunities to pick up their race packets.

Wednesday, July 3rd from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm 

Oklahoma Race Company business office/warehouse located at 304 Opportunity Way. This is located at the NW corner of Indian Hills Rd & Porter/Sunnylane, in Drake's Landing warehouse area.  Look for the feather flags! 

Race day, July 4th beginning at 7:00 am at the race.  An email with this information along with parking and race day information will also go out to registrants prior to the race.

After the race, be sure to check out the fun Norman FourthFest activities:

• July 4th Red, White, and Blue Swim:  12:00 - 6:00 PM - Westwood Family Aquatic Center, 873 Fairway Drive, Norman - 

  There will be activities and competitions for the whole family and a cookout at our concession stand. Make sure to stop by and cool off in the pool before heading to Reaves Park for the fireworks show!  Cost: $5 for non-pass holders and free for pass holders and children under three years old.

• Norman Fourth Fest 2024:  5:00 PM - Reaves Park, 2501 Jenkins, Norman - 

  There will be food trucks, yard games, contests, live music by Hook and Lip Service, and an area where individuals 21+ may enjoy local breweries. The event starts at 5:00 p.m., with live music beginning at 6:00 p.m. And let's not forget the fireworks show, which has become one of the largest and best in Oklahoma. You can listen to the show's music and watch the fireworks near the park on KGOU 106.3 FM. The fireworks will begin at 9:45 pm.
