Red Coyote is kicking off 2024 with the Red Coyote Puppy Love 5K! Join the Pack for a 5K run or walk with and for your best four-legged friends.
The event will support the mission of 405 Animal Rescue and you might even have the chance to meet and adopt a new running buddy!
This race is 100% dog friendly for all well-socialized pups on a leash. We do ask that any owners running with dogs be prepared with a "pick up" bag to attend to any unscheduled potty breaks (yours or theirs) on the course. ;-) Permit requires we leave it spotless so we need everyone to do their part!
You can run with a dog or without. The course loops in such a way as to have traffic moving in just one direction. We trust that everyone will be accommodating and have a good time. There will be regular awards for the top three men and women finishers and the winners of the USATF age divisions. We'll also have a prize for the first male and female finisher with a dog!
For additional fun, participate in our costume contest! We'll have a special prize for the doggo / owner with the most amazing get up.
The race is scheduled for Sunday, February 11th at 2:00 pm from Stars & Stripes Park in OKC. We had excellent weather last year but if for any reason a weather postponement should be necessary, we would reschedule to May 19th at the same location and time.
Weather permitting, we'll have pups from our partners at 405 Rescue to meet, greet, and adopt. We also encourage all of you to dress up your friends for a canine costume contest. We're ready to have some fun and share the love with your favorite furry Valentine. Don't miss out - sign up today!
Our beneficiary partner organization for the Puppy Love 5K is 405 Animal Rescue. An estimated 11 million cats and dogs are killed in United States shelters each year. 405 Animal Rescue strives to help beat those odds as much as possible by rescuing animals off death-row and euthanasia, rescuing unwanted animals, promoting spay and neuter, microchipping to increase the return-to-owner rate, socialize and rehabilitate mentally and physically abused animals, and much more. We go above and beyond to adopt our our wonderful, deserving animals out to approved homes to kick start them into their new lives, full of love, happiness and security.
Red Coyote is proud to support their mission and the work they do in our community. If you'd like to help as well, you can donate during registration, make a separate donation at the button above, or visit their website to learn more and get involved.

As you know, winter running weather in Oklahoma can be unpredictable. We've planned ahead and set an alternate date if for any reason, (monsoon, snow, ice, plagues of locust, rivers turning to blood, etc), we are unable to have our run on February 11th. If weather circumstances force a change, our preplanned postponement date will be Sunday May 19th, same venue, and same time. We hope we don't need plan B but it's in place if needed.
We've been following the weather forecast throughout the week and have been hopeful that the outlook for Sunday would improve. Unfortunately it's moving in the wrong direction with temps in the 30's and a 75-90% chance of rain or snow. While runners can go in nearly all situations, these would not be workable conditions for many of the pups, partners, and participants looking forward to being a part of the event.
After discussions with everyone involved, we've made the decision to move the event to our emergency backup date of Sunday May 19th. This booking was included in our original planning in case the unpredictable Oklahoma weather threw us a curve. We hate to make a call this early but feel like the more notice we can give you, the better.
We will move the event in it's entirety to the new date, Sunday May 19th, 2024 at the same location, Stars & Stripes Park in OKC. Packet Pick Up will move to Friday May 17th from 10-7 and Saturday May 18th from 10-6 at the OKC store location.
All current registrants will remain intact and move forward to the new date. Registration will remain open through the 19th for additional participants who may wish to join in warmer weather!
