After much consideration and with heavy hearts, we have decided to make the Piedmont Turkey Trot completely virtual this year. When we started planning this year, our state numbers and hospital numbers were much lower than they are now, and we were confident that we could safely hold an in person event. However, the spread of COVID-19 has continued to increase exponentially as of late, with reports showing that 1 in 100 Oklahomans have tested positive in the last 3 weeks. We truly do not want to cause further spread of this virus, and while we understand that an outdoor race poses a much lower risk, we want to ensure that we are doing what is safest for our volunteers and our community as a whole. Further, our hospitals are under extreme strain, with only 5% ICU bed availability statewide and 12% medical/surgical beds available as of 11/16/2020. With such low bed availability, we are concerned that should someone require medical attention at the race due to illness or injury, there may not be an immediate bed available to them in the area. We also want to be diligent for our tired medical community. 

With all of this said, we would like to offer options to our participants. Although we have stated no refunds from the beginning if the race did have to go virtual, we have discussed this, and have added the following 3 options:

1. Continue or switch to virtual race and receive your t-shirt, swag bag, and medal. All proceeds will still go 100% to Bright Sky Ministry to support foster families. 
* We will be sending out another email with instructions for entering your personal time to the website and encouraging everyone to post and tag us in their virtual trots.
*We will continue with the costume contest, with the winner still receiving a prize. All you need to do is post a photo and tag us! More instructions to come.

2. Receive a 50% refund and receive your t-shirt only. This will cancel your race spot for this year

3. Roll over your registration from this year to next year. 
*For this option, participants will not receive the t-shirt, medal, or bag for this year, but their race fees will be paid in full for next year’s race from this year’s entry fee. 

We know this will come as a disappointment to many, and believe us, it is for us too! This has been a heart wrenching decision for us all. We have so much enjoyed the support that we have received in only our second year and look forward to a bigger and better race next year where we can fully embrace the experience and continue raising money for our Oklahoma foster families! In the meantime, we will do everything we can to make the virtual race as fun and interactive as we can!

The deadline to make these changes is by 11/22/2020. If you have not signed up and would still like to for the virtual race 5K or 1 mile Fun Run, please select one of those options in the sign up. 


Here Are Your Options:

Virtual races happen all the time, and allow you to join the fun without the crowds. You simply run the distance on your own, and report your results - we’ll send you instructions. Bags, t-shirts, and medals will still be delivered or mailed to you! 

We understand. We hope you can join us next time. You will still receive your t-shirt! 

We will transfer your registration to the 2021 race, and look forward to having you join us. Thank you for your patience! 

*Note: You will receive no bag, medal, or t-shirt for this year's race, 2020.

Join us for our 2nd annual 5K and 1 mile Fun Run Thanksgiving morning! All proceeds to benefit Bright Sky Ministry, an organization dedicated to providing essentials to Oklahoma foster families providing care to at risk children. Shirts and medals are included in the price of the race. Costumes are welcome and prizes will be given! 



We consider the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and community to be of utmost importance. We will be taking extra safety precautions this year in response to COVID-19. We will also be offering a virtual race option this year as well, in the event you cannot make the race in person or feel more comfortable participating elsewhere! 

We will be monitoring the COVID-19/flu numbers very closely as race day draws near. In the event we have to go fully virtual with our race due to rising numbers and for the safety of all participants and volunteers, we will notify everyone by email and will do so in a timely fashion. There will be no refunds as this is for charity and the race can still be done virtually. All participants that have signed up before November 19th will still receive their t-shirt and medal via mail.
