So...here's the deal. I'm not a race director. My co-director isn't a race director. We are just two runners who wanted to waste a Saturday morning doing a drunken relay between our favorite local breweries. BUT we have to stay friends with those breweries, so we have to pay them in advance for the runners who are going to storm their business, trying to chug beer faster than all their friends.
Yes, this is not a healthy race. Glad you recognized this. You're chugging pints and running through an industrial/residential area. Duh.
Yes, this is through a not-so-ritzy part of town. But I ran it alone, on a Monday evening, shirtless and with headphones in, in as a female. So calm down. There's sidewalks; I checked.
Yes, the price tag is a bit high. It includes the costs of opening breweries early, the pints plus tip for the employees, and t-shirts designed by a local company. It costs money to shop local; we're doing it anyway. If you're nice and we know you as a good human being, we might give you a discount code. Probably not.
Here's what you need to know:
This is a 5k, 5 pint journey from Cabin Boys Brewery to Nothing's Left Brewery. Take in the sights and sounds of a Saturday morning while finding your path from Nothing's Left to Dead Armadillo Brewery. Push your limits and make your way from Dead Armadillo to Heirloom Rustic Ales. Finally, dig deep and cross back to Cabin Boys to complete your quest.
THE SETUP AND RULES
This race is NOT timed- you did NOT want to see the ticket price go up, so no equipment. Your only goal is to beat the other teams and not get totally smashed before the finish line.
Look, there will be signs, ok? And (sober) volunteers at each brewery to give you directions. And a map printed on the t-shirt. It's a circular 5k....you can't get that lost.
Each team is composed of at least three runners but no more than five (aka five is the max!).
The team must stick together and run as a cohesive unit. Your team is not finished until the last member crosses the finish line. So don't have slow friends.
CHANGE ON REGISTRATION: We had previously posted that teams would have to be organized by start line on race day. Now, we are asking that the NUMBER of your teammates be locked down by close of registration (09/29/2019 at Midnight). This will allow us to accurately pay the breweries on the Tuesday before the race. This means I'm doing less and more accurate math, essentially. Trust me, this is better for everyone.
A pint of in-house beer must be consumed at each brewery, and each team member must drink one pint while on the course. If you have five members, this is easy- one person drinks at each brewery (Cabin Boy's has two drinks at it: one for the start, and another to finish the race). If you have three members, you will have to divide the beers among runners, but remember...each runner must drink at least once! The race isn't over until that last pint is dry. Don't argue.
Drinks are pre-paid in the form of your race entry (including tip!) so you don't have to worry about cash. There is a $7 limit at each brewery, but you can pick whatever drink you want at that limit. All of the breweries will have non-alcoholic options as well, but runners still must be 21 to enter the premises.
Wristbands for drinks will be distributed before the start line. Tear off the wristband and give it to the bartender along with your drink order. Don't be a dick about it.
There will be at least one volunteer at each brewery. They are your brewery God- what they say, goes! They are also your directions angel and your safety net; don't piss off the volunteers.
Please let us know if you'd like to volunteer by email, or FB message our event page.
