Carr & Carr Attorneys, Fleet Feet and Council Oak Elementary are partnering to benefit the Tulsa Day Center through a shoe collection and donation project in conjunction with the Turkey Trot 5k and Fun Run on Friday, November 29th beginning at the BOK Center.
Shoes that are collected leading up to the run, or on the day of the run, will be donated to the Tulsa Day Center for distribution to users of its services. Carr & Carr will give the Tulsa Day Center $10 for each of the first 250 pairs of shoes donated. Last year 150 pairs of shoes were donated and Carr & Carr extended their donation to $2,500.
The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless goes above and beyond for everyone who comes through the door by assisting clients with case management, healthcare, basic hygiene needs and resource education. For many, The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless is the first step to starting a new and improved life. We are more than a homeless shelter. We provide a full spectrum of resources to help clients not only get back on their feet, but also become self-sufficient.
Individuals interested in donating shoes can drop off the shoes during normal business hours at Fleet Feet’s KingsPointe Village location (5968 S Yale Ave), Fleet Feet’s Blue Dome location (418 E 2nd St) or during normal office hours at Carr & Carr Attorney’s office location (4416 S Harvard Ave).
“As an avid runner for many years, I’ve witnessed homelessness while running in our downtown areas,” said Carr & Carr Attorneys partner, Patrick Carr. “After talking with the owners of Fleet Feet, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to join forces and give back to the communities that have given so much to our firm and their store.”
Tim Dreiling, Fleet Feet Owner “We are very excited to partner with Carr and Carr and the Homeless Alliance to help provide individuals and families in our community with a great pair of running shoes. From our experience, we know a great pair of shoes can be life-changing."
All participants in either the 5k or the Fun Run will receive the long sleeved shirt shown below at packet pickup, and the medal after finishing the race.
No changing of shirt sizes will allowed during packet pickup - you will be given the size you registered for. After the race, if we have any shirts left, trades for different sizes can be made at the registration tent.
