Corporal Jared M. Shoemaker
────────────────────────
Corporal Jared M. Shoemaker was born on April 22, 1977, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was raised in the community he would later serve and protect. He graduated from Edison High School before continuing his education at Northeastern State University, earning a degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice.
Driven by a desire to serve others, Jared joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2003 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve. He also pursued his goal of serving his hometown as a Tulsa Police Officer, entering the Tulsa Police Academy in 2005, where he graduated first in his class academically. He served as a patrol officer before deploying overseas in support of military operations.
Beyond his military and law enforcement service, Jared was known as a devoted son, brother, husband, teammate, and friend. He was actively involved with the Tulsa Rugby Club, where his leadership, determination, and friendship made a lasting impact on those around him.
On September 4, 2006, while serving in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, Corporal Shoemaker made the ultimate sacrifice when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle during combat operations. He was 29 years old.
