Come one, come all! And don't stress about an accurate distance or time! This is just a fun way to spend Labor Day holiday morning with a friendly team competition. Don't be concerned about how fast or slow you are… the only thing that matters is your poker hand!
ORRC Poker Relay is a relay made up of up to 5 people, but can also be a solo run or any number in between at Greenway Park in Beaverton.
Event is capped at 52 teams!!!
There is no day of race registration!

Race Details
Rules of The Game
- A team is composed of between one to five combination of runner/walkers.
- Each team initially receives 2 playing cards.
- Packet pickup/start/finish/exchange line is at Greenway Tractor Park along the north-south Greenway Trail, ¼ mile to the East of Greenway Elementary school, along a connecting path.
- Each runner/walker loop begins at Tractor Park (where packet pickup is located) and heads toward Hall Blvd to the north. Participants turn around at Hall Blvd., and return to Tractor Park and continue to Scholls Ferry Rd to the south where they turn around and return to the exchange zone. There are five loops in total.
- At the Hall Blvd turnaround, the runner/walker picks up a playing card. And at the Scholls Ferry Rd turnaround, the runner/walker can choose to keep the card or exchange it for a new one. Participants cannot see the new card before they exchange the old one.
- After all participants have finished their loops, each team will have seven playing cards to present their best five-card poker hand at the finish line.
- The teams with the best poker hands win.
- Poker Relay is not a timed event.
Best Poker Hands
- Royal flush - A, K, Q, J, 10, all the same suit
- Straight flush - Five cards in a sequence, all in the same suit
- Four of a kind - All four cards of the same rank
- Full house - Three of a kind with a pair
- Flush - Any five cards of the same suit, but not in a sequence
Straight - Five cards in a sequence, but not of the same suit
Three of a kind - Three cards of the same rank - Two pair - Two different pairs
- Pair - Two cards of the same rank
High Card - When you haven't made any of the hands above, the highest card in a hand wins
Registration Fee
- Group leader registers online. The remaining team members register Monday, September 5th at the running event.
- One registration fee covers up to any combination of five runners and/or walkers.
- ORRC member running event fee discount is not available.
- Each registration is limited to one ORRC volunteer discount code
- No same day registration

Cup-less Running Event
Poker Relay is cup-less due to COVID as well as ORRC being a sustainable partner with the Earth. Please bring your own container that can be refilled at the pavilion/start line and on the course. All teams will receive reusable cups at packet pickup.
Covid-19 Safety Protocols
The waiver includes an additional acknowledgement that you have read and accepted the ORRC Covid-19 Safety Protocols . Please take the time to read these carefully before you sign the waiver. The protocols are quite detailed, but feature the following: Face coverings MUST be worn while indoors. Keep a safe distance while outdoors.
Parking
Street parking is available proximate to Greenway Park Shelter at SW Greenway Blvd and SW Parkview Loop in Beaverton. The event begins by the basketball courts and play area in the middle of the park.

Aid Stations
There are no course aid stations. Water and gatorade available at the exchange/start/finish zone.
Post Race Treats
There will be no post-race treats. All food will be provided in packets at pickup, but there will be a cake-walk every 20 minutes after the regular start where teams will have the opportunity to win a cake.
The Course
The course is flat and paved. Course is open to bicyclists and other guests. Be aware of your surroundings.

In addition to ORRC’s rules, participants may not wear headphones. No dogs or strollers are allowed for this event due to narrow path widths open to both other runners, walkers and bicyclists.
The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, ORRC encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the event.
