The City of Independence and the Monmouth-Independence Area Chamber of Commerce are pleased to present the 4th edition of the Oregon Hop Run! There will be a 10k, 5k, and a free kids 1/2 mile dash. The running and walking will start and end at Riverview Park, located in beautiful Downtown Independence.
If you are interested in volunteering at this year's event, you may do so HERE. Your time will be very much appreciated, and you will receive a complimentary entry for next year's event!

All events will start from the Independence Amphitheater- dubbed as the living room for the city and draws 1,000s of visitors throughout the year during popular annual events. The route will take you on a multi-use path, away from cars, surrounded by views of the Willamette River. For those going after the 10k, you'll run two 5k loops. After your first 5k loop, the celebrated hop bell will be rung on your behalf. Surrounded by spectators at the halfway mark, you’ll get a lively boost to tackle the last 5k of the race. Pick-up your race bib #, goodie bag, and shirt (if you ordered one). You are able to pick up a packet for a friend or family member.

Did you know Independence was known as the “Hop Capital of the World” from the late 1890’s to the 1940’s? We will be using this event to recognize this portion of Independence's history.
Where Your Money is Going:
Know your money will be going towards a good cause and will ensure ensure a fun time. Proceeds from the Oregon Hop Run will support the work of the Ella Curran Food Bank. After your professionally chip-timed 10k or 5k event by Ardor Adventures, you will receive a ticket to enjoy a local beer (if of age) or a beverage of your choice at participating locations in Downtown Independence. We will also provide special discounts at eateries to stretch that dollar.

Shirts will be available for purchase during online registration for an additional $15. The size options are S-XL and are available in both men's and women's cuts. To get your shirt on race day, please register by midnight on Monday, August 16th. There will also be an opportunity to purchase shirts during race day for $20.
Dogs and Strollers:
This event will be dog-friendly and baby-stroller friendly. For those with dogs, please use a short leash at all times (no retractable leashes). And please, please clean up after your pal. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. We hope you have a fun time!
The aim of the Oregon Hop Run is to promote an active lifestyle through running and walking. While achieving this, community members and visitors will come together to celebrate the rich local hop heritage, and ultimately support the Ella Curran Food Bank.
