The Ruck

The WesternU COMP-Northwest Military Medical Student Association (MMSA) is bringing back our annual "The Ruck" fundraiser! Half of your $5 entry fee and half of any donations will go directly to the Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization that runs multiple projects in support of America's veterans, and the other half of any funds raised will go to the COMP-Northwest MMSA to help fund military medical student attendance at future military medical conferences and future events like this. $5 payment and any donations can be sent to the MMSA treasurer's Venmo account: Ellie-wallace-6. Please put "The Ruck" as the payment comment. 

More Details:

We'll be rucking the Mark Slough Trail, a short but sweet 2.5 mile loop that you can run, walk or ruck (walk with a weighted pack). Come May 28th, active members of COMP-Northwest MMSA will complete the loop alongside as many of our classmates, professors, and community members as possible. We hope to do a group warmup before starting the loop so we thank you for participating in this special event as well as get limber for the jaunt. We will have some small snacks and prizes available such as gift cards to the one and only Hazella's Bakeshop, Western U swag, and more as well as stickers as a token of our gratitude for your support. There is also a virtual component that anyone can sign up for and complete anytime from now until May 31st!

What are you donating to?

• The Gary Sinise Foundation serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities Gary Sinise Foundation Website: https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/mission/ 
   
• The WesternU COMP-Northwest Military Medical Student Association is a student club that supports military medical students in their educational and professional development. Funds raised would help to fund club events, training opportunities and attendance at annual military medical conferences. 
   

Main Programs Supported By the Gary Sinise Foundation: 

• The R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) program builds 100% mortgage-free specially adapted smart homes for our most severely wounded heroes. 
• The Relief & Resiliency program aims to ensure our defenders and their families stay strong through hardships by offering complete support in times of need.
• The Community Outreach & Education program bridges the gap between our defender and civilian communities.
• The First Responders Outreach program provides funding for essential equipment, PPE, emergency relief, and training to ensure our first responders are able to perform to the best of their abilities.
