Description
Hike, run, roll, pedal or paddle your way to 5k!
The goal of the Westwind Moves! 5k Challenge is for you to get outdoors, enjoy nature, stay active, and have fun! Now more than ever, it is important for us to focus on both our mental and physical wellbeing so that we can continue to navigate our way through these tough times we are in. It has been shown that physical activity and time spent outdoors is beneficial to both mind and body - and now there is a fun way to join the Westwind community in completing this challenge. Find a nearby hike or paddle your way down the Willamette at sunrise, and be reminded of why time spent outdoors, and natural places that provide these experiences (like Westwind!) are so important to our lives.
The challenge can be done anywhere! It does not have to be completed at Westwind or in the Portland area - be creative!
The challenge can be done however you choose! Go hiking, biking, or any other fun way to complete the challenge!
Want to go further than 5k? Go for it & share your results!
In addition to the fun of completing the challenge, through this event you can help Westwind too. Help us meet our $10,000 goal by creating your own fundraiser or fundraising team. Compete with other fundraisers to win prizes and in doing so help Westwind stay open and able to meet our mission to conserve the Westwind site in perpetuity; foster life-changing outdoor experiences for all children, families and groups; and promote environmental stewardship as a basis for sustainable living.
How it works:
1. Register for the event!
2. Share your participation with friends and families. Tell them about the challenge, why you are doing it, and how they can join you!
3. Start fundraising and getting pledges for your participation in support of Westwind!
4. Complete your challenge anywhere you choose and submit your results!
5. Share photos of how you are completing your challenge, or sporting your new tee on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #WestwindMoves2020

About Westwind
Westwind is a non-profit 529 acre camp, farm, and wilderness area set in the middle of the Cascade Head UN Biosphere Reserve on the Oregon coast. Westwind is home to Camp Westwind, the Northwest Outdoor Science School, workshops, events, and volunteer programs.
We dream that all children have access to wild and undeveloped landscapes and are allowed to discover the interconnection, complexity, and splendor of living in balance with natural systems. Our mission is to conserve the Westwind site in perpetuity; foster life-changing outdoor experiences for all children, families, and groups; and promote environmental stewardship as a basis for sustainable living.
Westwind’s future success relies on being a leader in getting all children outside, connected to nature, and nurtured by the wisdom of many cultures, backgrounds, places and generations!
