WSHS Spring Fling 5K and 1K Fun Run

Celebrate spring at this community-wide FUN RUN that supports the WSHS Academic Boosters. Runners/walkers of all abilities are welcome to join us for this colorful celebration and some springtime fun.

5K run/walk course: hilly, meandering around West Salem High School and the adjacent park, beginning and ending on the WSHS track.

1K run/walk course: flat, open to all, beginning and ending on the WSHS track. 

EVENT INFORMATION:

8:45 - 9:00 am : Zumba Warm-up with Susi Armstrong (WSHS PE Teacher)
9:00 am : 1K Fun Run
9:30 am : 5K Fun Run/Walk
10:30 am : Color Flinging Celebration - Activity Area outside of the stadium gates

There will be a race clock, however, this is not an officially timed event.

Colorful FUN along the route!

Face-painting and a colorful chalk drawing contest will be held in the activity area following the Kids 1K Fun Run.

There will be a Color "flinging" celebration following the 5K. Participants can purchase extra chalk packets to "fling" at one another in the designated activity area. Chalk is not allowed in the stadium area. All chalk activities will be held in the Activity Area outside of the stadium gates.

REGISTRATION:

5K run/walk: $25 includes race t-shirt (must register by 5/11/16 for t-shirt)

1K run/walk: free, registration required - race t-shirt available for purchase at registration (must register by 5/11/16 for t-shirt)

PACKET PICK-UP:

Friday, May 20, from 3:00-6:00 pm in the West Salem High School Commons or Saturday, May 30, from 7:00-8:45 am.

PARKING:

Do not park in the bike lanes on Doaks Ferry or Orchard Heights. On-site parking is limited, but parking is available at Chapman Hill Elementary School (1500 Doaks Ferry Road NW), or Straub Middle School (1920 Wilmington Ave. NW). Both schools are within easy walking distance to the beginning of the course.
