Description
Running Water began in the heart of a few people in Sherwood to reach out to people in Zambia who lack access to clean water and often need to walk miles to get it.
Running Water is a 5K run/walk hosted by Cedar Creek Church to raise money and awareness on behalf of World Vision for the plight of AIDS-impacted children. We’re also partnering with Water Africa, a Portland-based volunteer group working to provide clean drinking water in Zambia.
We are astounded that $35 can provide clean water for one person for his or her entire lifetime!
Proceeds from this year's event support the cost of providing clean water, as well as providing sanitation and hygiene training so that the clean water does not get contaminated. Clean water greatly reduces infant mortality rates, enables girls to go to school, and frees parents up to provide for their families by farming or commerce.
