The Evitts Mountain Challenge are challenging 3.5M and 5.5M races. The first and last .3 miles of the race will take place on the Bedford Heritage Trail, a wide crushed gravel trail. The remainder of the race will take place on the Bedford Springs Resort property, utilizing doubletrack multi-use hiking and biking trails. Both races have rocky sections, but are runnable. The 3.5 mile race features one climb gaining 550ft over 1.2 miles. The 5.5 mile race features an additional climb gaining 350ft over .75 miles.
The race will begin at the Bedford Elks Country Club pavilion. Runners for both races will begin on the Bedford Heritage Trail for .3 miles and will then make a left onto the Bedford Springs property. The trail will have a constant climb for the next 1.2 miles. After mile 1.5 the trail will begin to descend to the Aid Station at approximately mile 2.
From the Aid Station, 3.5M runners will turn right and descend 1.2 miles back to the Heritage Trail and return to the finish line.
5.5M runners will continue straight past the Aid Station another 1 mile and then turn left and head back up the mountain. After climbing approximately .75 miles, the trail will loop back to the Aid Station around mile 4. Runners will continue straight past the aid station on the same path as the 3.5M race and descend 1.2 miles back to the Heritage Trail and return to the finish line.
