We have finally decided that we are not able to hold this year’s race. We held out as long as we could, but with southwestern PA still on lockdown and the fate of large gatherings still unknown, we just don’t see a path forward. So we are postponing this event until June 5, 2021. (We have to move the date due to anticipated trail construction work in the early spring.) We will be leaving registration open for the next year so anyone who would like to register can.
As before, you have the option to do nothing and your registration will automatically transfer. You may also donate your fee to the Mon Yough Trail Council or request a refund.
This event provides the organization's largest source of revenue for maintaining the trail. By donating your fee you will support our maintenance work this season. Assets like the trail will be even more important for giving people the opportunity to get outside and maintain and restore their physical and mental health. So we feel our work is critical.
We do understand that these are difficult times for so many, and we will gladly issue your refund if you request one.
Like everyone we are looking forward to better days ahead and look forward to seeing everyone in 2021.
Additional race information can be found at http://www.thebostontrail.com.
The event includes a 1/2 marathon run and a 5K run/walk. The 5K also provides an opportunity for families and people with pets to participate. Both are held on the Yough River Trail of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) which provides a flat, fast, crushed limestone surface. Medals are given in both races.
The Mon Yough Trail Council (MYTC) hosts this race, and 2020 marks the 10th anniversary. It raises necessary funds for trail maintenance and upkeep throughout the year. The MYTC is one of a network of all-volunteer trail councils that exist along the GAP specifically to keep the trail open and accessible for all.
