12th annual Iron Run half-marathon and Charcoal Challenge 5k run/walk

The Friends of Pine Grove Furnace are pleased to hold the 12th annual Charcoal Challenge 5k run/walk and Iron Run half-marathon on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. 

These concurrent trail races are promoted by the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace for the benefit of our 501(c)(3) non-profit in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. All proceeds support recreation, education and conservation in the State Park. The race courses show off the beautiful State Park and surrounding Michaux State Forest.

Early registration online ends on May 15 at 5 PM. The half-marathon fee is $45, and the 5k is $30. Note that race T-shirts are only guaranteed for registrations received by 5 PM on May 15 -- after that, the registration fee goes up ($55 for the half-marathon, and $40 for the 5k) and no race shirts will be available. Online registration ends June 4. After June 4, you can register on-site the morning of the races.

Same-day registration opens 6:30 AM on June 8. Half-marathon runners must be at the start line by 7:20 AM for the 7:30 AM start. 5k runners/walkers must be at the start line by 8:20 AM for the 8:30 AM start. Allow 5-10 minutes to get from parking at Fuller Lake to the registration area at the old stone furnace stack. Restrooms are at registration. No dogs on the race courses, please.
