Description
This 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) race was developed by RunPositive, a group formed in the wake of the tragic, early death of concert promoter and community organizer "Jersey" Mike Van Jura to benefit his children and other families going through the untimely death of a family member. He died suddenly from a heart attack in 2012 at only age 36 and RunPositive promotes running as a way to cope with grief and find community in the midst of tragedy.
Runners and walkers — including a 1-Mile Fun Run for kids — can sign up right here on the site. Registration will be accepted through April 19. Night-before race bib pick-up will be offered at Sturges Speakeasy (400 Forster Street in Harrisburg, PA) In-person registration also will be available up to the 12 p.m. start.
Our premier event in 2013 that anticipated a mere 100 participants was overwhelmed with nearly 500! You asked us to kick it into high gear and that's what we'll do this year!
Importantly money raised during the event will go to benefit a new family coping with the tragic death of a parent, selected by Mike's kids. A portion of proceeds will also benefit the K+L Guardian Foundation and Mike's two awesome kids.
