September 2021 Camp Runabout Canceled - Options Available!!!
Dear Camper,
We have been monitoring the Covid 19 cases daily to ensure that we can run a safe camp in September. Unfortunately, with the continued rise in positive Covid cases for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people due to the aggressive Delta variant, we are very sorry to announce that we must cancel our September 2021 camp. Until as recently as last week, we were hopeful that we would still be able to gather. But above everything else, the safety of our campers and staff is our top priority. Canceling at this time is a tough decision because we know many of you (like us) have already made travel plans. We are offering options to you to in order to make this transition as easy as possible.
Option1 and 2
You can transfer your registration FREE OF CHARGE to either our June 2022 or September 2022 camps with the 'normal' $30 transfer fee waived.
With this option choice, Camp Runabout will also absorb the 2022 cost increase of $100 based on the new camp location requirements.
Option 3
Receive a 50% refund of paid entry fee.
We will issue a refund back to the card used during registration.
Many campers have already contacted us and requested a transfer to a 2022 event because of personal Covid concerns. We hope that many more of you will choose to take advantage of our free transfer option and plan to join us next year. If you do, we will make the transfer from our end and send you a new camp date confirmation. Nothing else is required.
Camp Runabout’s official refund policy is no refunds are offered to campers if the event is canceled by the camper or by us within 30 days of camp start, 50% refund if canceled between 31 and 60 days of camp, and 75% refund if canceled greater than 61 days of camp. This rolling refund policy is to cover non-refundable camp operation expenses incurred as the camp gets closer. Currently, we are 22 days out from camp, but we are making an exception to our policy by offering the 31-60 refund amount.
We sincerely wish that we could give each of you a full refund, but with many expenses already having been paid in full or part (with no refunds to us), doing so could bankrupt us, and we would not be able to offer this fantastic experience to anyone in the future.
Know that we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by canceling camp at this late date. Camp Runabout was born from passion, and it's our joy to meet up with you in the mountains every June and September. While this decision was not easy, and saddens us to deliver this disappointing news, the only thing that would make us feel worse is knowing that one or many campers got sick on our watch.
May we please hear back from you by way of your option choice by no later than midnight August 31? (We really do want to have you specify your option but a no-reply will have to be considered a request for transfer of entry to the June 2022 camp - thanks!)
Thank you in advance for your understanding. We hope to see you at camp next year.
Sincerely,
Gail Hughes, admin geek for
Bill Reifsnyder

Description
Camp Runabout is an all-inclusive, fun-filled summer camp for adult runners (sorry, you gotta be 21). Held in the Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, Camp Runabout brings like-minded runners together for 3 days of training and fun. Camp Runabout allows you to revisit the fun you had (or missed) at summer camp as a child while enjoying the benefits of adulthood (an open bar!). Each morning starts with a run in a scenic location near camp. During the day, our 200-acre camp is your personal playground, as you are free to explore all of your favorite camp activities like zipling, high ropes course, flying trapeze, arts & crafts, and canoeing. The fun continues into the evenings with nationally-recognized speakers, a bonfire with smores and a camp-wide party with a DJ or Band.
Camp Runabout’s all-inclusive experience encompasses all of your meals, lodging, camp activities, speakers, entertainment and an open bar throughout the weekend. So once you pull into camp you can put your wallet away.
MEALS: Breakfast (with mimosas and bloody marys), lunch and dinner. We will also have a roaming snack cart all-day during camp activities, and late-night munchies served at our camp cantina.
LODGING: Campers will bunk in our cabins with other runners. Each bunk has its own showers, toilets, and sinks, along with a porch for relaxation. For those coming camp with a loved one (or if you simply want more privacy), we have a limited number of private rooms available. Our private rooms still share hallway bathrooms.
CAMP ACTIVITIES: We offer a wide range of fun camp activists for your enjoyment like: high ropes course, low ropes course, zip line, climbing tower, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boats, fishing, flying trapeze, primitive fire starting, swimming, arts & crafts, kickball, dodgeball, tennis, softball, and more. You are free to revisit your childhood at your own pace. Go from one activity to the next, hang out at your favorite one all day long.
OPEN BAR: We will have an open bar during the evenings starting with beginning with Happy Hour, and continuing through dinner, and our nightly entertainment. For your safety, there will be no alcohol served during daily camp activities.
SPEAKERS & INSTRUCTORS: Camp Runabout will feature nationally-known speakers that are both educational and inspirational. Our speakers will cover topics that are of interest to everyday runners. Please watch our website and newsletter for announcements about our 2018 speakers. Camp Runabout will also have a host of instructors who will lead classes throughout the weekend. Our daily classes will cover everything from Zumba, yoga, self-massage and more.
ENTERTAINMENT: Late night entertainment includes DJs, musicians and/or bands. We will also have Disco party on Friday night, so dressed to boogy.
At Camp Runabout, we all have something in common - we love running as much as we love having fun. So if you want to escape the “real world" and spend a long weekend in the mountains with other runners who like to have a good time, then register now because spots are limited.
