Date: Sunday April 29th, 2018. ALL EVENTS ARE SOLD OUT (4/18/18)
UPDATE**Half Marathon starts in four waves--a 6:30AM OPTION for walkers and slower runners who want to get an early start, 7:00, 7:45, and 8;30. 5k fun run starts at 7:15am. FREE children's run for Ages 9+ starting at 8:40 AM!!
A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Turn To Us Foundation of Jim Thorpe and The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley www.pcflv.org
Parking: There will be limited parking near the starting area for $6 in cash. We recommend that runners in wave1 (6:30) and the 5K (7:15) park near the starting area. Put "Jim Thorpe Municipal Parking Lot" or "Hazard Square" in your GPS. Anyone who would like to park for free, may park at the Jim Thorpe High School (1 Olympian Way) and take our free shuttle to the starting area. We suggest that runners in wave 2 (7 am) park either near the starting area or at our free shuttle lot. We recommend that all runners in waves 3 (7:45) and 4 (8:30) park at our shuttle lot.
All the Races will Start and End at the Carbon County Municipal Parking Lot in Jim Thorpe, PA 18229--next to the train station.
Crucial Course Information: Shortly after the start of the race, you will hit the Lehigh Gorge Trail. You will be sharing this trail with other runners and members of the public (hikers, bikers, etc.) Please remember to:
Stay to the right. Run no more than two across. Be alert for oncoming traffic while passing other runners.
Bib Pickup: Saturday from 1-9pm at the Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway. For those traveling to Jim Thorpe on race day, we will have bib pickup at the starting area.
Bib Pickup for Others: You may pick up a bib for another runner provided that you have a copy of that runner’s license. A photograph of the license on your cell phone is fine.
No Bag Check: Due to Carbon County regulations and space limitations, we will not provide a bag check. Any personal items should be left in your car or with a spectator. Those who pick up their bibs on race day will have the option to hold onto their T-shirt bib tag and pick up their T-shirts after the race at the race merchandise table.
Restrooms: There will be plenty of restrooms at the starting area. However, because the majority of the race goes through a state park, there will only be one bank of restrooms along the course (You will pass it at miles 2.5 and 10.5).
Water Stations: We ask that you stop only at water stations on your right. There will be four water stations along the course, located (roughly) at miles 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10.5. Stations will have water and gatorade.
Cell Phone Service: Service in much of the park is spotty at best.
Pre-Race Pasta Dinner: The Broadway Grille, located next to the Inn at Jim Thorpe, is offering a pre-race pasta dinner special. Originally, we had expected a buffet, but the plans have changed slightly due to the limited number of RSVPs. We recommend that you call to make reservations (570-732-4343) \
Bib Transfer Window Closed: As of 4/21 we are no longer accepting requests for bib transfers. All bibs have gone to the printers. Participants can still change their starting waves.
*The Final Shuttle back to the off-site parking area will leave the start/finish area at noon. If you are in wave 4 (starting at 8:30) and plan to be on the course for more than 3 hours, please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org to change your wave.
Finisher's Medal: A unique Medal symbolic w/Jim Thorpe will be given to all participants in the half marathon!!
Coaching: Do you need a little extra help and motivation? We also offer a 14-week individual training plan with one on one coaching (if needed) upon registration! Please contact email@example.com for more information.
