Description
Water Unites Us All! Let's walk in person together on Sunday, April 21, to help, in partnership with the BARKA Foundation, residents in Fada, Burkina Faso, have clean water! We will meet on Back Campus at the Upper School at 1 PM and walk along Market Street to the river, around Kirby Park and back (approximately 3 paved miles). Participants are asked to carry a bottle or jug of water in connection with women and children in Burkina Faso who carry as much as 40 pounds of water a distance of 6 kilometers (almost 4 miles)! Individual registration with a fee of $5 is required. Registration completed no later than April 10 includes individual and family walk t-shirt options when you add to your registration fee; those shirts will be given out beginning at 12:30 PM on Back Campus before we begin the walk. Extra donations using the donation button are always welcome, including during our walk and until midnight, Monday, April 22, Earth Day. All funds will go directly to the BARKA Foundation's construction of a new well in Fada, Burkina Faso.
This event is open to all students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Wyoming Seminary Lower and Upper Schools. We hope that you will join us in this special community event to kick off Earth Week! Check out this video with Namoungou School students, Sem students, and Sem families showing the impact of our 2021 Walk/Ride for Water when we partnered with the BARKA Foundation to help Namoungou School students in Fada.
