Polar Bear 5K Trail Run/Hike

Come join the fun!!  The Sierra Club – Lancaster Group invites you to run or hike in this 5K (3.1miles) trail race to show your support for the environment.       
Bring a dog, bring two dogs!!!  We love our pups!  Choose to participate in FUN and awesome RUN or Hike.

 

RACE INFORMATION:
WHERE:
Lancaster County Central Park - Kiwanis Lodge (Pavilion 22) Located at 826 Eshelman Mill Road. Lancaster, PA 17602
The 5K begins and ends at Kiwanis Lodge
(Pavilion 22, PARK AT 826 Eshelman Mill Rd.)
Shuttle provided from parking lot to the starting line. Please arrive between 8:30 & 9:30 am to catch a shuttle, register, and be at the start on time.

WHEN:

  • Registration / Bib Pick-up 8:30am-9:30am
  • Catch a shuttle to the start 8:30am-9:30am  (Don't miss the ride to the start!)
  • Race Starts Promptly at 10:00am

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Choose from the following registrations  
  • EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION available until January 5th   $30 
  • All registrations after January 5th including race day registration will be $35
  • 5K Trail Run - or -
  • 5K Trail Hike
  • If you are running with your dog(s) please tell us their name in the registration field as well. - Thank you!   
     
     

Each Participant will receive a commemorative mug included with their entry.

Funds raised from the event support the Green Grant Program, providing financial assistance to local environmentally focused organizations.
This fun trail run/hike will go through scenic Lancaster County Central Park. All trails are well maintained with some hills. Since the race is in January, be prepared to run in mud, snow, and possible ice. Trekking poles, micro spikes are allowed on the course. To view route map, please visit

RULES:

  • Bib Placement:  Bibs must be worn on the FRONT and VISIBLE at all times. When crossing the finish line your bib tag must be ready to hand to the timing crew.
  • No Course Cutting: Follow the marked course at all times – it will be clearly marked with orange survey ribbon, directional arrows. If you depart the marked course, you must return to the point of departure before continuing. It is the responsibility of each runner to stay on the course.  If you do not see any trail markings please GO BACK until you see the marking again and follow the correct marked course.
  • Do Not Litter: You can either carry your trash or dispose of it at the aid stations. Anyone caught intentionally littering along the trail will be disqualified.
  • Dropping out of the race: If you can’t complete the race, you must notify the race director or member of the timing/finish line so we are aware.
  • Passing other trail users: Communicate your intentions clearly (“Passing on your left”) and be courteous of other users on the trail.
  • BRING YOUR DOG! Well behaved dogs are encouraged to join us on this adventure!  All dogs must be kept on leash and you must pick up after your dog and dispose of all waste properly.  DO NOT leave waste bags on any part of the trail or property.
  • NO REFUNDS. NO DEFERRALS. NO BIB TRANSFERS. NO BANDITS.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Rain or Shine Event.
  • We do not offer refunds for race registrations to any events or organized events for cancellations and postponements of events due to reasons beyond our control.
