K.D. Markley Turkey Trot

Students have been learning about running, the benefits of running, proper technique and ways to strengthen their endurance during their health and physical education classes.  Not only have students been learning about how to stay active through running but they have also been working on a growth mindset and striving to always give it their best.  The Turkey Trot is a way for us to celebrate all of their hard work!

The event this year will feature 3 running heats with all of 3rd grade running together first, followed by 4th grade and lastly our 5th grade heat.  New for this year, students will use a racing bib that will allow all students to see their time when they finish the event.  Not only does this allow students to continue to reach for their personal best, it also creates a realistic event atmosphere.  It introduces students to what an official event is like in the hope of running more events in the future on their journey to living an active and healthy life.  In the event that the Turkey Trot has to be rescheduled due to the weather, a school messenger will be sent. 

Parents can attend this event outside to encourage and support the runners! If you would like to pick up your child(ren) after the event,  please send a note to school in the morning letting us know.  All pick-ups will take place at the main entrance to the school next to the flag pole.
