Description

Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn announced the Mid State Trail has been named Pennsylvania’s 2019 Trail of the Year. “Showcasing some of our state’s most scenic areas, and offering hikers everything from gentle rail-trail travel to rigorous rocky climbs, the Mid State Trail captures the essence of Pennsylvania’s abundant trail system,” Dunn said. “Known to so many, the Mid State truly is most deserving of this honor.”

What is this?

We had a big kick in the you-know-what this spring with the coronavirus forcing us to postpone our Worlds End Ultramarathon. Not only does it suck for us as race directors but also for all those who have been grinding out the miles preparing for the big day in May. Well, we don't want you guys to waste all that training and have decided to put on a virtual race to keep you guys motivated. Yes a virtual race! This means you will be doing this event on your own or in small groups while practicing physical distancing.

So here is how our virtual Rocksylvania 93k Ultra will work.

Sign up for the race. This race is not free. We are charging a very small fee so we can buy some swag and top finisher items plus cover our shipping postage and mailing supplies. We have 3 different divisions to choose from to complete this challenge.
Run the course during the month of May. You can run the race during any part of the month of May. Depending on which division you sign up for, you may run the course on multiple days.
Submit your results. Once you complete the race, upload your time to RunSignUp and GPS data.
So let's break this down with a little more detail.

Signing up for the race.

Sign up for the race anytime between now and the end of May.
Doesn't matter when you sign up, as long as you ran the entire route in the month of May, it counts.
The low cost for the race covers the cost of swag, shipping, etc. Any money we don't use will be donated to the Loyalsock/Worlds End fund that the Worlds End Ultra donates to.
Running the course.

The course is point-to-point from R.B. Winter SP to Little Pine SP and follows the orange blazed Mid State trail the entire way. The course will not be flagged and you must self guide from point A to point B. It is recommended that you download the GPS track to help navigate the course.
You can run this race completely self-supported or have someone help you along the way. It's up to you.
We are offering 3 divisions that you can choose based on your time and training level. Those training for the WE100k should probably choose the "1 shot" or "2 part" division. This means you are either going to complete the entire course in one go or dividing it up into two parts and running them on separate days. The "3 part" division is recommended for those who are training for a 50k or less race, allowing participants to do the entire course in 3 chunks.
You must start at R.B. Winter SP, end at Little Pine SP and go run each part in one direction. All segments will need to be run from south to north.
Those going for the "1 Shot" division is pretty self explanatory. Start at R.B. Winter SP and end at Little Pine SP.
Those going for the "2 Part" division should start at R.B. Winter SP and end at the bridge crossing in McElhattan (mile 32ish). Then start from the bridge crossing and finish at Little Pine SP.
Those going for the "3 Part" division should start at R.B. Winter SP and end at Ravensburg SP for leg one. From Ravensburg SP to the Woolrich Park shelter for leg two. Then the final leg from Woolrich Park shelter to Little Pine SP.
The starting point is the large state park building at the beach and ending at the bridge as you leave the state park campground to the overflow parking lot.
Upload your results.

Once you have completed the race, upload your results to RunSignUp.
Upload your GPS data to https://my.pcloud.com/#page=puplink&code=VHB7ZSoSGso56pSbR7veV029eLFIm5Jk7
Once all results are in.

Once all results are in we will order all of the swag and awards. Once they are all completed, we will ship them to you!
