Description

"The Bucks County Road Runners in conjunction with the Nursing Community Healthcare Outreach Committee at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania are excited to announce that we will be hosting an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED Certification class led by BCRR’s very own Ultrarunner Melissa Trolene BSN, BA, RN,CMSRN & Amy Kim BSN, RN, CCRN, CPAN. Both are certified AHA instructors and want to “Give Back” to their running community thru “Health Education. "

Interested? PLEASE register ASAP.  We have a limited amount of spaces for the December 3rd session and registration is based on a first-come first -serve basis.  Let’s fill it up and get as many  Roadrunners CPR certified as possible.

The initial  session will be held Saturday DECEMBER 3rd at 11:00 am and will run for approximately 4 hours.  If we reach our maximum number, we will also run a Second Session Sunday, December 4th at 11:00am.

A message from long-time BCRR member John Burrows –

"In May 2015, I had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest at the 21st mile of the Run for the Red Marathon in Mt Pocono, PA. I was saved by another runner that knew how to restore my heart beat and keep it going until emergency response personnel could arrive.

I owe my life to another runner who knew what to do because they were trained in CPR/AED.

The running community is a great and caring community and what better way to let this shine forth then for each of us to be trained and prepared to take action if necessary.   Of course, we would rather not have the occasion arise, but we can only be prepared to help each other and of course our families and loved ones if we are properly trained.

If you do go for the BCRR training with Melissa, look around the room. Either you or one of your classmates might very well be the one to save a life. Take it from me, it’s been done before!"
