HIKESGIVING 2026
Hosted by Groundbreakers
Saturday, November 21, 2026 · 10AM
Trolley Trail · West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
For the community. For the trails. For the culture.
Hikesgiving is Philly's Thanksgiving hike. 125 hikers move through West Fairmount Park in crews on the Trolley Trail. This isn't a race. Nobody's timing you. Walk it at your pace, with your people, and finish at the social.
WHERE TO MEET
Trolley Trail Entrance
Chamounix Drive (parking lot across from Ridgeland Mansion)
Philadelphia, PA 19131
HOW IT WORKS
Hikesgiving runs on crews of up to 10.
- Start a crew: register as a Crew Lead, name your crew and send your people the link.
- Join a crew: pick your crew's name when you register.
- Rolling solo? Register as a solo hiker and we'll put you in a crew. You'll leave with new people.
Every hiker gets a numbered bib with your wave and crew. Waves head out in groups starting at 10AM so the trail stays moving.
THE POST-HIKE SOCIAL
After the hike, we head to The Container Village:
4862 Parkside Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19131 (parking available)
- Recovery Lounge
- Live DJ
- Community Basket Giveaway
- Massage Therapy
- Medal Presentation
[OPTIONAL, IF CONFIRMED: Bring one non-perishable Thanksgiving item (canned yams, stuffing, rice, cranberry sauce) and drop it at the basket table at the social. Everything goes into baskets for Philly families.]
WHAT YOU GET
- Hikesgiving bib
- A custom Hikesgiving completion medal when you finish the hike
- Access to the post-hike social
- Official merch available at the social: tees, crewnecks, hoodies, totes and water bottles
THE ROUTE
The Trolley Trail is a loop of about 4.5 miles through West Fairmount Park, following the route of the old Fairmount Park trolley line. It's natural trail with hills, rocks and roots. If you can walk a few miles at a steady pace, you can do this. Crew leads and trail guides will be out on the route.
REGISTRATION
FREE. Spots are capped at 125. When they're gone, there's a waitlist.
Registration closes [date] or when spots run out.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO (FAQ section)
What time should I get there?
Check-in opens at 9:15AM. Step off at 10AM. Get there early to pick up your bib and find your crew.
Where do I go?
Trolley Trail Entrance, Chamounix Drive (parking lot across from Ridgeland Mansion), Philadelphia, PA 19131. Look for the orange START arch.
Where do I park?
There's free parking in the lot across from Ridgeland Mansion and around the park. Never leave valuables in your car. By transit, the nearest stop is Ford Rd & Cranston Rd, about a one-mile walk to the start.
How do I get to the social?
The post-hike social is at The Container Village, 4862 Parkside Ave. There's parking there too.
Are there bathrooms or water on the trail?
No. There are no restrooms or drinking fountains along the route. Use the bathroom before you go and bring your own water.
What should I wear?
Layers, and shoes with grip. Sneakers work. Trail shoes are better. It's late November and the trail is hilly, so it can be cold in the morning and muddy after rain.
What should I bring?
Water, a light snack, and your phone.
Does my crew have to sign up together?
No. Your Crew Lead creates the crew, and each person registers on their own and picks the crew name. Crews max out at 10.
What if it rains?
We hike rain or shine. If the weather turns unsafe, we'll email and text all registered hikers the day before.
Is there a waiver?
Yes. Every hiker agrees to the event waiver when registering or at check-in.
